Human Form Replicator Samantha Carter

Summary

Human Form Replicator Carter was created by Fifth to rule by his side.

Character Biography

The Asgard had been successful in calling all of the Replicators to a single place, their planet Hala. Once there, the Replicators were trapped inside of a time dilation bubble generated by a device of Asgard design. This bubble would advance time slowly for the Replicators, giving the Asgard time to develop a means of defeating them. One of the tiny nanites gained access to the device and turn the time dilation in the opposite direction, thus causing the Replicators to evolve much more quickly. Soon, the planet was inhabited by Human Form Replicators, all created in the image of their creator, the android Reese (introduced in the episode, 5.19 "Menace"). The Asgard called in SG-1 to help them turn the device back to slow down time. During their time together, the Human Form Replicators probed each member of SG-1's mind to obtain information about the planets they had visited through the stargate. The Human Form Replicator named Fifth showed the emotions of a young human being. He developed an emotional attachment to SG-1, but especially to Carter. Using this relationship to his advantage, Jack ordered Carter to set the timer to reactivate the device to three minutes instead of five, giving Fifth the impression that they were going to take him with them when they left. Carter promised Fifth that they would take him with them, but she betrayed him and he was caught in the bubble because he thought she had set the timer for five minutes. Fifth's last thoughts before going into the bubble were those of the pain of betrayal. (6.12 "Unnatural Selection")

While the Asgard did their planning to rid themselves of the Replicators, Anubis was busy attacking Earth. Jack took a second download from an Ancients' Repository of Knowledge and used that knowledge to locate and operate a powerful weapon left behind by the Ancients in Antarctica. Anubis' attacking fleet was destroyed over Antarctica and in Earth's orbit. The Ancients' knowledge took its toll on Jack and he had himself placed in a stasis chamber in the Antarctic Outpost to save his life. Daniel had promised him that they would find a way to remove the knowledge. (7.21 "Lost City Part 1", 7.22 "Lost City Part 2") Carter knew that the Asgard would be nearby to monitor the Replicators' status, so she and Teal'c decided to contact them there by taking an upgraded cargo ship to Hala. To their surprise, the planet no longer existed and the sun had become a black hole. The Asgard had caused the sun to go nova in order to destroy the Replicators entrapped on the planet. Thor saved Carter and Teal'c before their cargo ship broke apart from the gravitational effects. (8.01 "New Order Part 1")

While Teal'c and Carter were onboard Thor's ship, the Daniel Jackson, they found out that not all of the Replicators were destroyed in the black hole. Somehow, they had used the time dilation device to pull away from the gravitational effects and broke free. Soon, the Replicators had formed a massive spaceship and were headed toward Thor's ship. They were successful in boarding the Daniel Jackson, and while Carter and Teal'c used Earth's weapons to destroy the bug-like first generation Replicators, Fifth was in the Replicator's mothership monitoring their progress via a subspace link. He spotted Carter and used an adaptation of the Asgards' beaming technology and transported her onto his ship. Thor and Teal'c contacted the Asgard on their new home planet to warn them that the Replicator ship was approaching and they set up an ambush when the ship dropped out of hyperspace near the planet. The Asgard fleet destroyed the ship, but pieces of it entered the planet's atmosphere and soon Replicators were taking over the planet. (8.01 "New Order Part 1")

Thor and Teal'c devised a plan to use the Ancient knowledge in Jack's mind to design a weapon which would disrupt the links the Replicators used to maintain their form. They went to Earth and retrieved Daniel and Jack. Before removing the knowledge from Jack, Thor connected Jack's mind to his ship's computer and Jack designed a disruptor gun using the Ancients' knowledge and Thor's computer system. Thor then removed the Ancients' knowledge from Jack's mind and saved his life. (8.02 "New Order Part 2")

Thor and Teal'c thought that Carter had died in the destruction of the ship, but Fifth had saved her and himself before the ship exploded. He took her to the planet and tortured her for her betrayal, but she convinced him that she was sorry. Fifth then decided to place her in a dream-like state and convince her she was living a peaceful life on a farm with her lover Pete Shanahan, but Carter soon discovered the deception and Fifth revealed that he loved her. She, however, convinced him that he should let her go. He decided to leave her on the planet for the rest of SG-1 to find and then he took off in his new ship before the Asgard could use the disruptor wave. (8.02 "New Order Part 2")

As Fifth made his retreat, he created the Human Form Replicator made in Samantha Carter's image. His goal was to have her rule at his side. He used Carter's memories and emotions in the creation of the Replicator, but she also had Replicator programming as well. This meant that she had the same goal to rule galaxies. She developed her own personality and decided that Fifth was weak. She devised a plan in which she would contact the SGC and tell them that she wanted to be destroyed because she had a conflict in her programming (because she was Samantha Carter and a Replicator). Carter convinced Jack that they should meet with Replicator Carter to get as much information about Fifth and the other Replicators as possible before destroying her. While at the Alpha Site, Replicator Carter told Carter that Fifth had developed a cipher which prevented his and his brethren's destruction with the disruptor wave. Together, Carter and Replicator Carter worked on the disruptor technology in order to override the cipher. Replicator Carter, however, had tricked both Fifth and Carter. Fifth's ship approached the Alpha Site and Replicator Carter discharged the disruptor wave before the new program had been loaded. There was no cipher after all. Fifth and his ship were destroyed. But, because Replicator Carter had been given access to the disruptor's design, she had developed her own cipher and had become immune to the disruptor wave. She fought her way out of the Alpha Site and in the process of breaking Teal'c's grip on her, she left behind deactivated pieces of her arm as she escaped through the stargate. (8.02 "New Order Part 2", 8.11 "Gemini")

Replicator Carter decided to enter the Milky Way Galaxy and go after the Goa'uld because the Goa'uld had advanced technology from many different sources. Her first order of business was to visit the System Lords' space station and kill all of the System Lords assembled there. Included in the slaughter were Lord Yu, his First Prime Oshu, two other unidentified System Lords and their First Primes, one of Ba'al's Goa'uld underlords and her Jaffa. (8.16 "Reckoning Part 1")

While Teal'c and Bra'tac were on a mission with the Rebel Jaffa to overtake Goa'uld ha'taks, Carter and Daniel kept them company to support their efforts. When their ha'tak was approached by another ha'tak, they were uncertain if it was occupied by their fellow Rebel Jaffa or their enemy because they were not able to establish communications. They were attacked and boarded by Replicators! During their escape, Daniel was beamed away. (8.16 "Reckoning Part 1")

Once Carter, Teal'c, and Bra'tac entered the embarkation room at the SGC, Jack immediately noticed things had not gone well for them. As soon as the wormhole disengaged, Jack asked after Daniel. Reluctantly, Carter told him that the Replicators had beamed Daniel away and she theorized that it was Replicator Carter who had done it in order to gain access to Daniel's memories of his time when he was ascended. Carter believed that Replicator Carter thought that Daniel retained information about Ancient technology and this theory proved to be accurate. Replicator Carter restrained Daniel against a Replicator block wall and formed a link to his mind. She impersonated Oma Desala and tricked him to opening his mind to the possibility that Oma was offering him ascension once again and that the memories of his time ascended had been buried and not erased. Replicator Carter obtained the information she sought—the location of a weapon which was capable of destroying her. She found this weapon on a planet named Dakara. (8.16 "Reckoning Part 1")

Dakara was a sacred place for the Jaffa and was nestled deep within Ba'al's territory. It was said that Anubis first rose from the dead and the first prim'ta implantation ceremony on a Jaffa was performed in the temple there. The Jaffa had been given their strength and longevity on Dakara at the hands of the Goa'uld and that is one of the reasons why the Jaffa worship the Goa'uld as gods. Teal'c and Bra'tac proposed that while Ba'al was busy fighting the Replicators, they could take control of the temple on Dakara and prove once and for all that the Goa'uld are false gods. They were easily able to take the temple, but Ba'al and Anubis disengaged their fight with the Replicators to go to Dakara to wipe out the Rebel Jaffa. At the same time, Replicator Carter sent her fleet of Replicator ships to Dakara in order to destroy the weapon hidden there. (8.17 "Reckoning Part 2")

Replicators, Anubis' and Ba'al's fleet, and the Rebel Jaffa converged at Dakara. In the meantime, Ba'al contacted Jack at the SGC and asked that he destroy the weapon on Dakara before Anubis' fleet arrived because the weapon had the capability of destroying all life in the galaxy. Ba'al agreed to help Carter and Jacob/Selmak calibrate the weapon and rig the stargate to dial all of the other stargates in the galaxy simultaneously in order to destroy the Replicators. While they were doing this, the Replicator fleet began its attack on Anubis' fleet which was led by Ba'al. The Rebel Jaffa engaged their ships against the Replicators as well. Replicators were also sent to the SGC to destroy Earth. (8.17 "Reckoning Part 2")

Replicator Carter noticed something when she was probing Daniel's mind: the vast knowledge of the Ancients. She was so overcome with her need to obtain this knowledge that she didn't realize that Daniel had learned to enter her mind during her probing of his. He discovered a way to control the Replicators and he stopped them long enough for Jacob/Selmak to set the controls on the weapon on Dakara to activate the Replicator-destroying wave. Replicator Carter killed Daniel to end his control and then the disruptor wave killed her and all Replicators in the galaxy. (8.17 "Reckoning Part 2")
