Geopolitical Structure and History

The Stargate of P3R-272 was housed inside a dark chamber with no other exit (2.16 "The Fifth Race"). The only parts of the room besides the Stargate and DHD were an engraving on the floor and a hidden object on the wall, a repository of all of the knowledge of the Ancients.

An initial probe to P3R-272 showed the inscriptions that Daniel Jackson recognized as one of the languages from Heliopolis. When SG-1 arrived on P3R-272, they were confused by the deserted and barren but fully powered enclosed setting that met them. When Jack O'Neill crossed over the circle of engravings on the floor, the Repository of Knowledge appeared on the wall. When Teal'c approached, he looked inside the opening, and saw several swirling lights. When Jack O'Neill approached the strange device, it grabbed his head and downloaded all of the knowledge of the Ancients into his head. After being released, O'Neill slumped to the floor, catatonic, and the team immediately gated home.

O'Neill came to and gradually got to act on the Ancient knowledge. He input several new Stargate addresses into the SGC database and create a repair schematic for a damaged DHD. Unfortunately the large amount of new information in his head was rewriting the old, and he was losing his ability to communicate or interact with others. Before the overload of information killed him, O'Neill was able to use his Ancient knowledge on a subconscious level to seek out the Ancients' allies, the Asgard, and get them to remove the knowledge

Before this stage, when O'Neill was still able to mostly interact with his team, Jack was able to read a picture Daniel took of the writing on the floor. It read Noo ani Anqueetus. Hic qua videeum. Once Daniel Jackson was able to hear the language spoken, he recognized it as a form of medieval Latin and translated the script to read "We are the Ancients. [This is] the place of our legacy".

An engineering team later returned to P3R-272, but after six months of study, could garner no further information from or about the device (7.21 "Lost City Part 1"). The download into O'Neill's mind apparently depleted the power source of the Repository of Knowledge.
