Geopolitical and Structural History

Only ruins remained when a nomadic tribe, led by elder Shamda made their home on the planet. One day when returning from a water run, Shamda and others saw a bright flash of light. When they went to investigate, they found a naked man who had no idea who he was or how he came to be there. They named the man "Arrom", meaning "naked one" in their language, and gave him a home in the village.

Two months later, Jonas Quinn had an inspiration in finding the mythical Ancient's lost city by dialing the last address listed in the Ancient Repository database. He believed it would be Vis Uban, place of great power, the "city of the lost". According to Jonas's research, Vis Uban was to be the crown jewel of Ancient civilization but before the city was finished construction, the plague broke out that wiped out the Ancients.

SG-1 and SG-3 came to the planet to investigate, finding only ruins and the friendly but wary nomadic tribe. SG-3, investigating the outskirts of the ruins, encountered Arrom, who they immediately recognized as Daniel Jackson.

While SG-1 were elated to find their old teammate alive and well and apparently no longer ascended, Arrom did not recognize them and was loathe to leave the tent and friendly settlement that was the only home he remembered. Still, after speaking to O'Neill and Carter, he decided to return to the SGC with them.

SG teams meanwhile spent time mapping the ruins on Vis Uban, which had the oldest of Ancient dialects written across them. They had only finished a preliminary analysis around when Arrom started remembering he truly was Daniel Jackson. Daniel also had instant recall of the Ancient language and realized his old translation notes and Jonas's work was wrong, and "Vis Uban" was not really the "lost city" they were searching for after all.

However, the SGC wondered if they could trick Anubis into believing the same as they did. Anubis had been wreaking havoc in the galaxy using his mothership's superweapon created by all the Goa'uld "Eyes". The SGC worked with their Tok'ra allies. The Tok'ra left a false tablet leading Anubis to Vis Uban while the SGC spent a week relocating the nomads, and sending through an F-302 and building a makeshift runway for it to launch and make a run on Anubis's vessel upon arrival. They would disable Anubis's weapon, and in a temporary alliance with the Goa'uld system lords, led by Lord Yu to Vis Uban to finish Anubis off. They also set up a temporary command on the base so General Hammond could coordinate the attack from the planet.

Daniel and Jonas ringed aboard the vessel using a ring platform on Vis Uban itself to sabotage and recon the ship from inside, remaining undetected. While this was happening, Anubis had realized the tablet planted for him was a ruse and detected the SGC's temporary offworld base near the Stargate. He powered up his weapon to fire there, putting the offworld command staff, including General Hammond, in peril. Daniel and Jonas however were able to provide the necessary information to Jack and Sam aboard the launched F-302 who were able to fire a missile and destroy the superweapon. Their plans to stop Anubis once and for all with a coordinated attack by the Goa'uld did not happen, however, since Yu's fleet went to Chodawa and did not rendezvous at Vis Uban. Anubis escaped in his ship.
