She served in the Gulf War and was part of the Project Blue Book program (which later became the Stargate Program) just before Dr. Daniel Jackson solved the riddle of the Stargate. She was selected as the second-in-command officer of the newly formed SG-1 while at the rank of Captain. Since being a member of SG-1, she has seen two promotions and was given the command of SG-1 when Colonel Jack O'Neill was promoted to Brigadier General and given command of the SGC. After a year, she transferred to lead the Research and Development department at Area 51, but rejoined SG-1 under the command of Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell when the Ori became a major threat to the security of the galaxy.

About a year afterwards, she contacted Daniel to help her track down a treasure written about on an Ancient tablet. Her tablet led to the discovery of Avalon and alerted the Ascended Beings known as the Ori as to the existence of humanity in the Milky Way Galaxy. Vala was impregnated by the Ori in order to circumvent the rules of the Ascended and she bore a daughter whom she named Adria. After being rescued by Daniel, Vala wished to join the team, but she is currently on probation under the condition that she behave herself as she offers her knowledge and experience as a former host to a Goa'uld, an expert on the Lucian Alliance, and as the mother of Adria, the Orici. Vala is married to Tomin, an Ori warrior currently serving Adria who was from the village Ver Isca in the Ori's home galaxy.

|valign="top"|Major General George Hammond was on his way to retiring when Apophis attacked the SGC. Suddenly the officer and gentleman from Texas found himself commanding one of the most significant endeavors in the history of the world: the Stargate Program. He led the SGC with wisdom and courage for seven years, when he was promoted to become the head of Homeworld Security on behalf of the United States. A year later he retired, and he now works for the President as an advisor. His leadership was a unique and admirable combination of devotion to duty and to the people in his command. He defended his country and planet from external as well as internal threats, and protected the lives and reputations of the men and women under his command to the best of his ability.

Major Characters

Stargate SG-1

SG-1 Team

Dr. Daniel Jackson - Dr. Daniel Jackson is an archaeologist and linguist, an expert in ancient writing systems, languages and cultures. He is the intuitive genius who found the key to unlocking the Stargate and also made Stargate Command possible through his excavation of the Abydos Cartouche which charted the vast network of Stargates. He has been a member of SG-1 since its inception, except for his time ascended, and is on SG-1 now.
Col./Gen. Jack O'Neill - Jack O'Neill was the leader of SG-1 from its inception until his promotion to Brigadier General. He was on the original expedition to Abydos with Daniel Jackson and led SG-1 for seven years, until he became commander of the SGC. After one year, he was promoted again, to Major General, and now heads the Department of Homeworld Security at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C.
Capt./Maj./Lt. Col. Samantha Carter - Dr. Samantha Carter has a Ph.D. in Astrophysics and is an officer of the U.S. Air Force.
Teal'c - Teal'c is a Jaffa who was formerly the First Prime of the Goa'uld System Lord Apophis. When Teal'c met the humans of Earth, he saw that they had known freedom from slavery to the Goa'uld and he decided to join them to fight against the false gods. He became the fourth member of the SG-1 team after its first mission to Chulak, Teal'c's homeworld.
Jonas Quinn - Jonas Quinn is a native of the planet Kelowna (now named Langara) and was the fourth member of SG-1 along with Colonel Jack O'Neill, Major Samantha Carter, and Teal'c for the sixth year of the team's existence, replacing Dr. Daniel Jackson who had died saving Jonas's homeworld from a nuclear holocaust. Jonas had special talents which enabled him to be a quick study and he vowed to continue the work that Daniel had started in order to honor his sacrifice. After Daniel retook human form and rejoined SG-1, Jonas returned to his planet in order to educate his people on the Goa'uld threat.
Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell - Lt. Col. Cameron Mitchell is an accomplished F-302 pilot and led the F-302 squadron in the battle with Anubis over Antarctica. He was gravely injured in the battle, protecting the lives of SG-1 as they gained access to the Antarctic Outpost and the Ancient weaponry powerful enough to destroy Anubis' attacking fleet. Mitchell was granted his choice of assignments after he recuperated from extensive combat injuries. He chose to join SG-1, and was given command of the disbanded team. He was able to entice the veterans of the unit back, and now works in tandem with Lt. Col. Samantha Carter, Dr. Daniel Jackson, and Teal'c.
Vala Mal Doran - Vala Mal Doran was a thief and con artist when she met Daniel Jackson as she tried to steal the Earth ship Prometheus. She was caught, but escaped.

Stargate Command

Gen. George Hammond - Major General George Hammond was on his way to retiring when Apophis attacked the SGC.
Gen. Hank Landry - Major General Henry "Hank" Landry was hand-picked by Gen. Jack O'Neill to take his place as the commander of Stargate Command (SGC) after O'Neill was promoted to head up Homeworld Security. As a former Vietnam War fighter pilot, Landry is familiar with the challenges of war and has been said to have a sterner attitude than the previous generals who have commanded the SGC base. He has studied the generals of history and has memorized many of their quotes, using them to break the ice with tough alien leaders upon first meeting them.
Dr. Janet Fraiser - Dr. Janet Fraiser was the Chief Medical Officer at the SGC for over seven years, until her untimely death while on an off-world rescue mission. She was an exceptionally skilled, caring, and dedicated doctor who saved many lives, sometimes more than once. She defended her medical principles as strongly as her patients, sometimes in contradiction to near-term mission goals. She was a beautiful, warm, compassionate woman, fiercely protective of her adopted daughter Cassandra and of her friends. She was Samantha Carter's best friend and a confidante at one time or another to all of SG-1 and General Hammond as well. The pain of her absence is keenly felt if not openly acknowledged.
Dr. Carolyn Lam - Dr. Carolyn Lam is a civilian physician assigned as the Chief Medical Officer of the SGC. She is also the daughter of Gen. Hank Landry. Described as stubborn by her father, Dr. Lam has a very no-nonsense and sometimes cold demeanor, though there are brief moments of a dry sense of humor. However, she also exhibits a great deal of concern for her patients, both at their bedsides and in her efforts to maintain their health.
Chief Master Sgt. Walter Harriman - Chief Master Sgt. Harriman has been with the SGC since Apophis's attack. As a Stargate technician, he dials the Stargate, announces incoming wormholes, and opens the iris on command. He also performs several clerical duties for the base commander.
Master Sgt. Siler - Master Sgt. Siler has been with the SGC since the first year it was brought back into full operational status. He is well-versed on the mechanics and operation of the Stargate, UAVs, MALPs, and other technology used at the SGC during their normal operations.

Allies

Master Bra'tac and the Free Jaffa Nation - Bra'tac is Teal'c's friend and mentor and was once the First Prime of Apophis. He, along with Teal'c, led the Jaffa to their freedom and has become a highly-respected leader of the Free Jaffa Nation.
Thor and the Asgard - The SGC knows Thor as the Supreme Commander of the Asgard Fleet, a steadfast and brave ally who has saved SG-1 and Earth many times, just as the SGC has saved his 'little grey butt'. Thor is understated, patient, enigmatic, unsentimental and brutally honest. He has a fondness for the Tau'ri, especially for Jack O'Neill. He is an uncompromising warrior, and always puts the good of his people ahead of individual lives, be they Asgard or human. This sets him at times at odds with sentimental humans who are not so ready to sacrifice their comrades to achieve bigger objectives.
Jacob Carter and the Tok'ra - Father of Samantha Carter, Jacob Carter was a former USAF Major General when he nearly died of cancer before becoming the host to a Tok'ra symbiote named Selmak. He became the chief liaison between the Tok'ra and the Tau'ri. Both Jacob and Selmak died not long after helping defeat the Replicators by calibrating the Weapon on Dakara.

Current Enemies

Adria and the Ori - Adria is the human spawn of the Ascended Beings known as the Ori. Her mother, Vala Mal Doran, was inadvertently sent to the Ori's distant home galaxy during the Ori's attempt to build a Super Stargate in the Milky Way Galaxy through which an invasion fleet could travel. Adria was born on one of the Ori warships that made it into the galaxy through a second Supergate and is the Orici, the human-form embodiment of the Ori who leads the Ori's Priors and armies in their crusade to convert humanity into worshippers or destroy them if they refuse.
Netan and the Lucian Alliance - Netan is the leader of the Lucian Alliance, a coalition of former mercenaries and smugglers who have joined together to take advantage of the power vacuum left after the defeat of the Goa'uld System Lords. He has a personal grudge against the members of SG-1 because the team has been instrumental in thwarting many of his evil schemes.
Ba'al and the Goa'uld and The Trust - Ba'al is the last remaining Goa'uld System Lord. He has created several clones which he has used to rebuild his empire, some of which have even become high-power corporate businessmen on Earth through the Goa'uld's infiltration of the rogue group known as The Trust.

Stargate Atlantis

Atlantis Expedition Team

Dr. Elizabeth Weir - Dr. Elizabeth Weir was the first civilian commander of the SGC, appointed by President Henry Hayes. After the discovery of the Ancient Outpost in Antarctica and the destination of the city-ship Atlantis, Weir was appointed the leader of the Atlantis Expedition to the Pegasus Galaxy. Her decisions as leader has been under recent scrutiny by the International Oversight Advisory (IOA), but thus far, she has been able to maintain her position with the help of Richard Woolsey, chief liaison of the IOA.
Maj./Lt. Col. John Sheppard - Maj. John Sheppard was the helicoptor pilot who took Gen. Jack O'Neill to the Ancient Outpost in Antarctica so that O'Neill could hear the results of the research conducted there by Dr. Daniel Jackson and Dr. Elizabeth Weir's team. It was discovered that he had a strong version of the Ancient gene, a genetic trait necessary in order to operate much of the Ancients' defense technology. Sheppard joined the Expedition to the Pegasus Galaxy and unwittingly became the commanding officer of the base when his superior officer died on the first mission through the Stargate. Sheppard has since been promoted to Lt. Colonel.
Dr. Rodney McKay - Extremely brilliant, yet very arrogant, Dr. Rodney McKay is the secondmost expert on the Stargate after Lt. Col. Samantha Carter, whom McKay has a major "thing" for. McKay often complains, but manages to arrive at brilliant technological solutions when under the threat of death.
Lt. Aiden Ford - U.S. Marine Lt. Aiden Ford was assigned as Sheppard's second in command on his exploratory team. He has since been a victim of the Wraith and is currently Missing In Action.
Teyla Emmagan and the Athosians - Teyla Emmagan is a leader of her people, the Athosians, and was the Expedition's first alien ally in the Pegasus Galaxy. Her people trade with several worlds in the galaxy through the Stargate and after her homeworld was ravaged by the Wraith, she joined the Expedition in Atlantis, the City of the Ancestors. She serves as liaison on Sheppard's team.
Ronon Dex and the Satedans - Ronon Dex was tagged by the Wraith with a tracking device so that he could be hunted by them. He was a "runner" for seven years after his homeworld, Setada, was devastated by the Wraith. There are about 300 of his people scattered throughout the galaxy. Sheppard asked Ronon to join his team as an expert in the strategies of the Wraith.
Dr. Carson Beckett - Dr. Carson Beckett is a medical doctor and geneticist who discovered the Ancient gene which is necessary to operate much of the Ancients' technology. He developed a gene therapy which is successful 47% of the time in activating the gene in people who are not born with it. He also has developed a retrovirus which converts a Wraith into a human being (the Wraith are the result of the melding of an insect and the human DNA introduced by the Ancients when they seeded the Pegasus Galaxy with life). Naturally possessing a strong version of the gene himself, Beckett is oftentime called to operate the city's drone-activating command chair, much to his extreme dismay.
Col. Steven Caldwell and the Daedalus - Col. Steven Caldwell is the commander of the Deep Space Carrier, the Daedalus, which transports people and supplies between the Milky Way and Pegasus galaxies and often acts as the city's first line of defense against the Wraith. When on the Atlantis base, he is the senior military officer and often clashes with Lt. Col. John Sheppard.

Current Enemies

Wraith - The Wraith are an alien race encountered by the Atlantis Expedition Team when they went on their first off-world mission in search of a power source for the city-ship Atlantis in the Pegasus Galaxy. They are advanced technologically and were the reason that the Ancients had to abandon their city Atlantis 10,000 years ago. Genii - Originally thought to be a simple agricultural people, the Genii developed an underground military system which secretly advanced their technology enough to threaten the Wraith. Their primary leap in technology was the development of nuclear bombs. Since meeting the Atlantis Expedition, the Genii have had internal problems which remove their overall threat, but certain individuals, such as Acastus Kolya, still have personal grudges against them.
