Catherine Langford has died and Daniel inherits her collection in which he finds reference to a Zero Point Module (ZPM) in a book about Ra in Egypt in 3000 B.C. With the hope of powering Earth's defenses in Antarctica and forming a stable wormhole to the Pegasus Galaxy, Jack and SG-1 use an Ancient time machine to go back in time 5,000 years to retrieve the ZPM, but something goes terribly wrong and they create a different future in which the Stargate Program does not exist and their alternate selves lead very different lives.
