Summary

Skaara is an Abydonian who helped free his people from slavery to the Goa'uld System Lord Ra and was introduced in Stargate: The Movie.

Character Biography

Skaara was the son of Kasuf and brother of Sha're and her husband Daniel Jackson. He soon became like a son to Jack O'Neill and he and his fellow Abydonian friends helped Daniel and Jack free his people from slavery to the Goa'uld System Lord Ra (Stargate: The Movie).

When Apophis attacked Earth's stargate and took a female sergeant captive, General Hammond sent Col. Jack O'Neill, Maj. Charles Kawalsky, Maj. Louis Ferretti, Captain Samantha Carter, and a few more men to Abydos to determine if Apophis came from there. The Earth teams met Skaara and his fellow stargate watchers, armed with the weapons left behind by Col. O'Neill from his first mission there, in the temple where the stargate and the DHD were situated. Jack was so glad to see Skaara that he went right past Daniel to give Skaara a proper greeting (1.01 "Children Of The Gods Part 1").

While Daniel was showing his discovery of a cartouche room within which there were several stargate addresses recorded, Apophis attacked the temple and kidnapped Skaara and his sister, Sha're. They were to be among those humans taken to a planet named Chulak where they would be considered among other captives as new hosts for the Goa'uld symbiotes in Apophis' family. Skaara was selected as the host of Apophis' son, Klorel, while Sha're was selected as the host for Apophis' queen, Amaunet. The Goa'uld choose hosts who are healthy and physically attractive. Apophis, Sha're/Amaunet, and Skaara/Klorel were able to escape from Chulak before the Earth teams were able to find out where they 'gated to (1.02 "Children Of The Gods Part 2").

Jack, Daniel, Carter, and Teal'c formed SG-1 after Skaara's abduction. Part of their mission was to seek out Skaara and Sha're and somehow free them from their horror as unwilling hosts to the evil Goa'uld. They encountered Skaara/Klorel on a mothership on its way to Earth to destroy it, along with Apophis' mothership. When Klorel had Daniel in the grips of his ribbon device, Jack was forced to choose who would live and who would die. After crying out Skaara's name to no avail, Jack shot Klorel to save Daniel. Jack was able to talk with Skaara before he died from the gunshot wounds. Klorel's Jaffa put him into the sarcophagus and Skaara/Klorel were saved. They were able to make their escape along with Apophis before the two ships were destroyed (1.22 "Within The Serpent's Grasp" and 2.01 "The Serpent's Lair").

After their defeat, Apophis' and Klorel's standing among the System Lords had diminished. Heru'ur sent a battle group after Klorel, but the two motherships were destroyed when they entered Tollana's defense perimeter. Klorel's ship crashed on Tollana and through the injuries, Skaara was able to take control of his body long enough to ask the Tollan for help. The Tollan called SG-1 on behalf of Skaara to represent him in a trial known as a Triad in which it would be determined who would be given control of Skaara's body. For Klorel, the minor Goa'uld System Lord Zipacna answered the call, while Jack and Daniel represented Skaara. A third, unbiased party was called into the Triad: Lya of the Nox. After much drama and the hearing of the arguments from both sides, Lya's vote was the deciding one. She chose to allow Skaara to have control of his body. The Tollan called the Tok'ra in to remove the symbiote from Skaara and they sent Klorel to a planet under the control of the Goa'uld where a new host could be found for him. Skaara was free to return home to Abydos (3.15 "Pretense").

Skaara seemed to have adjusted favorably after being the host to Klorel. He resumed his life on Abydos and soon found a woman he wished to marry. When Anubis attacked Abydos in search of the Eye of Ra, Skaara fought alongside Jack and Teal'c in the temple to defend the stargate which would become the last means of escape. Skaara was killed in a battle with Anubis' Jaffa, but he was ascended by Oma Desala who was watching over the Abydonians on Daniel's behalf (6.22 "Full Circle").
