Geopolitical Structure and History

One of the founders of the new Free Jaffa community on the planet was named Tass'an, a Jaffa who had been in the service of the Goa'uld Heru'ur (based on his forehead tattoo). Heru'ur's domain became part of Apophis's domain after Apophis killed him and destroyed a portion of his fleet in the Tobin System (4.13 "Serpent's Venom"). After Apophis's demise, the planet most likely fell into one of the surviving System Lords' domains, but its subsequent dispensations were never stated.

After the defeat of the System Lords in the battle over Dakara, the Free Jaffa formed a new nation (8.18 "Threads"). They brought together as many former worlds of the Goa'uld as they could, including Sartorus, where they built a city with many inhabitants. One day, a Prior of the Ori came through the Stargate and gave them the choice to either worship the Ori as their gods or be destroyed. The Jaffa chose to resist the Prior, and after the Prior returned and heard their refusal, he destroyed the city. Tass'an was one of the witnesses to his city's destruction by the Prior: "He dialed the Chappa'ai and merely placed his staff in the ground in front of it. Then the earth shook with a fierceness I have never seen nor heard of before. In moments, our city was leveled. Hundreds of our people wiped out in an instant."

Tass'an didn't specify how many survivors there were from the destruction, but he was most likely spared by the Prior so that he could tell others what he had seen. When Tass'an gave his eye-witness testimony to a Sodan Jaffa named Volnek whose planet was recently visited by a Prior, he warned, "Heed my words, brother. If a Prior visits your world, leave."
