INT—AREA AROUND TELFORD'S QUARTERS

[Telford, trapped in a room losing its atmosphere, remains glaring at a stone-faced Young.]

TELFORD/RUSH
Young! Open this damn door! We both know you're not going to kill me.

[Desperately he presses the door controls and slams against the door, trying to pry it open.]

[From outside, Wray slips in and grabs Scott's radio out of his hand.]

WRAY

(into radio)

Mr. Brody, this is Wray. You need to restore the atmosphere—

[Young lifts his own radio, not even looking back at Wray.]

YOUNG

(into radio)

This is Young. Please disregard that request.

[Telford backs away from the door, now fearful.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

WRAY

(over radio)

By letting this happen, you are participating in not only the murder of Col. Telford, but Dr. Rush as well.

[Volker and Eli look horrified. Brody remains stone-faced.]

INT—AREA AROUND TELFORD'S QUARTERS

[Wray turns to Scott, who looks upset. Young continues to watch Telford. In the room, Telford starts to grab a barrel, but stumbles. The lack of oxygen begins to affect him.]

SCOTT

(low, desperate)

Okay…sir, you've made your point.

YOUNG
I'm not trying to make a point.

[He watches as Telford continues to desperately stumble, knocking down another barrel. Telford leans back and grunts from the effort, grasping his side.]

SCOTT

(pleading)

Come on. Open the door, sir, please!

YOUNG
I know what I'm doing.

SCOTT
What you're doing is killing him!

YOUNG
I know that, Lieutenant.

WRAY

(pleading into radio)

Brody!

INT—CONTROL ROOM

ELI
What should we do?

BRODY
The Colonel's bluffing. He's not going to kill him.

INT—AREA AROUND TELFORD'S QUARTERS

[Telford falls to his knees, then to the floor, gasping for air. His nose is bleeding.]

INT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE

[Rush falls out of his chair, gasping for breath in a manner identical to Telford.]

KIVA
What's happening to him?!

INT—AREA AROUND TELFORD'S QUARTERS

[Telford's wheezes are audible through the door as he writhes in agony.]

SCOTT
All right now, sir, I cannot…

[Scott reaches for the door handle, but Greer shoves him back, looking stone-faced. Wray drops her head into her hands.]

[In the room, Telford gasps for breath. Finally he stops breathing entirely. Young steps away from the door, and Wray rushes forward to look through the porthole. She steps back, looking stunned.]

WRAY
You've killed him.

[Scott looks to Young with tear-filled eyes. Calmly, Young has been checking his watch. After a few moments, he grabs his radio.]

YOUNG

(into radio)

Brody.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Brody slams the button to restore the atmosphere to the room.]

INT—TELFORD'S QUARTERS

[Young opens the door and races inside, then starts chest compressions on Telford immediately. The others stand back, still looking horrified.]

YOUNG
Come on, David. David, come on.

[After several moments, Telford begins to breath on his own, gasping.]

TELFORD/RUSH

(still gasping)

You're all in danger.

YOUNG
What?

TELFORD/RUSH
They're coming.

[He grabs Young's uniform.]

YOUNG
Who's coming?

TELFORD/RUSH
The Lucian Alliance. They're coming to take Destiny.

OPENING CREDIT

EXT—SPACE

[Destiny flies faster than light.]

INT—DESTINY MUNITIONS ROOM

[All the military personnel are being heavily armed with rifles, grenades and sidearms.]

YOUNG

(over ship intercom)

We've been informed that this ship faces an incursion by armed forces of the Lucian Alliance, the group responsible for the attack on Icarus Base. All military personnel on board have been placed on high alert.

JAMES

(to her unit)

Let's go!

INT—GATE ROOM

[Park is at the controls as Volker sets up kino cameras.]

YOUNG

(continuing over intercom)

If the enemy has acquired the means to dial Destiny, their point of ingress will be the Stargate Room…

[Finished, Volker and Park leave.]

VOLKER

(into radio)

Brody, we're clear.

YOUNG

(continuing over intercom)

So the Gate Room is off limits.

[The Gate Room doors seal shut.]

INT—DESTINY CORRIDOR

[Greer, James, and other military personnel guide civilians through the corridor.]

GREER
Come on, come on, come on, let's go.

YOUNG

(continuing over intercom)

All surrounding corridors have been placed in lockdown. No one may enter without proper authorization.

INT—HOMEWORLD SECURITY HEADQUARTERS

[Several staff study geographic and star charts. O'Neill supervises their efforts.]

YOUNG

(voiceover)

I have provided Homeworld Security with intel on the planet from which the Lucian Alliance intends to launch their assault.

INT—HAMMOND BRIDGE

[Carter runs a final check on the ship as it readies for launch.]

YOUNG

(voiceover)

They're dispatching forces as I speak.

EXT—SPACE, EARTH ORBIT

[The Hammond launches into hyperspace.]

INT—DESTINY MESS HALL

[Young speaks to all the crew, military and civilian, gathered there.]

YOUNG
The best-case scenario: Earth forces take the launch point intact, and we gain a supply line from home. The worst case scenario is that our forces don't make it before the attack is launched, in which case we'll have to deal with them on our end. In that event, all non-military personnel will be ordered back to your quarters, where you will remain until the situation has been resolved. Make no mistake, this will be dealt with swiftly and decisively. Thank you, that is all.

[The group breaks apart. Wray approaches Young. Scott is close enough to overhear.]

WRAY
Colonel… Only a couple of hours ago, Col. Telford admitted to being a mole for the Lucian Alliance. And now, suddenly, he's on our side?

YOUNG
Yeah.

WRAY
You trust him?

YOUNG
I didn't say that.

[Wray looks bewildered. He walks away. Scott hurries to catch up to him.]

INT—CORRIDOR

SCOTT
What in the hell was that?

YOUNG
"What in the hell was that, sir."

SCOTT
All you had to do was tell me.

YOUNG
I was keeping you out of it.

SCOTT

(furious)

You didn't have to. If I had known that killing him and bringing him back was the only way to beat that brainwashing technology, I'd have been behind you 100%.

YOUNG
So you'll follow orders as long as I explain everything to you beforehand?

SCOTT
No, sir. That is not what I meant…

YOUNG

(talking over him)

Well that's good, because if it was, we'd have a problem, Lieutenant. Do we have a problem?

SCOTT

(after a pause)

No, sir.

YOUNG

(with false brightness)

Good. Because now is not the time for that.

[He leaves Scott.]

INT—INFIRMARY

[TJ checks Telford's pupil response.]

TJ
No headaches or blurred vision?

TELFORD/RUSH
No. I told you, I'm fine.

[He stares down at Rush's reflection in a laptop monitor.]

TELFORD/RUSH

(sighing wryly)

Well, Rush is fine. I'll find out about me when I switch back. Look, I really need to go, and uh…

[He stands with a groan just as Young enters.]

YOUNG
TJ, can you give us a minute?

TJ
Yes, sir.

YOUNG
Thanks.

[TJ leaves the infirmary. Young sits on a cot.]

YOUNG
How are you feeling, David?

TELFORD/RUSH
Confused.

YOUNG
I bet.

TELFORD/RUSH
You went the whole nine yards. To the brink and back.

YOUNG
I had to. You know, in my defense, it wasn't the first thing I tried.

TELFORD/RUSH
Yeah, thanks for that.

[Telford glances at the back of his hand as he scratches his face.]

YOUNG
At least the brainwashing explains why you've been such an ass.

TELFORD/RUSH

(quietly)

I read the SG mission reports of that method being used in the past. I just never, uh… You have no idea what it's like to remember things that you've done that, uh…terrible things.

YOUNG
You weren't yourself, David.

TELFORD/RUSH
You've got to send me back.

YOUNG
Not yet.

TELFORD/RUSH
I've done all that I can on this end—

YOUNG

(talking simultaneously)

I've already killed you once.

TELFORD/RUSH
I'm more useful to you in my own body back there with them, Everett, and you know that. How the hell else are you going to get Rush back?

YOUNG
Listen.

TELFORD/RUSH
You've got to get him out of there.

YOUNG
David, listen to me, you've just come back from the dead. I want you to get your strength back first.

[Young clasps Telford's arm in a comforting gesture and walks to the door, where TJ stands with the guard.]

YOUNG

(to guard)
Excuse us.
(to TJ)

TJ.

[The guard walks back into the room as Young escorts TJ out.]

INT—CORRIDOR OUTSIDE INFIRMARY

YOUNG
Listen, when they come, I want you here, safe.

TJ
Safe?

YOUNG
If they break containment, there could be wounded. We're going to need you.

TJ

(scoffing)

What we'll need is a real doctor.

YOUNG
You're up for this.

TJ
Not even close. What are you planning to do?

YOUNG
Evacuate the atmosphere in the Gate Room the minute they step through.

TJ
Kill them all, you mean.

YOUNG
You think I have a choice?

TJ
If you're asking for forgiveness, I can't help you there, either.

[She turns away.]

YOUNG
TJ…

TJ
I'll do my best.

[She walks back into the infirmary.]

EXT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE, NIGHT

[Molten lava shines in the ravine below the pyramid. In the distance are some volcanic eruptions.]

INT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE

[A goon drags a limping Rush over to Kiva in the Gate Room.]

KIVA
You're back.

[Rush says nothing, just looks at his injured hand. It's bleeding from a knife wound.]

KIVA
That was me. I had to see whether you were faking.

[Rush trembles in pain and loathing.]

RUSH/TELFORD

(caustic)

Well, I wasn't.

KIVA
I apologize.

[She waits pointedly.]

RUSH/TELFORD

(resigned)

Back to work. I know.

[He stumbles back to the lab area, taking a linen from a man and beginning to wrap it around his hand.]

EXT—SPACE

[Hammond jumps out of hyperspace above the Lucian Alliance Base planet.]

INT—HAMMOND BRIDGE

BRIDGE OFFICER
Running planetary scans.

[Carter checks out his monitor.]

CARTER
Whoa.

INT—HOMEWORLD SECURITY HEADQUARTERS

[Carter, still on the Hammond, is on video teleconference with O'Neill at the headquarters.]

CARTER
Sir, it looks like the intel is good. The planet's laced with naquadria deposits. We're also reading a huge energy signature emanating from what looks like a pyramid.

O'NEILL
Pyramid? That takes me back.

CARTER
Unfortunately, the complex inside is shielded against beaming technology.

O'NEILL
So Rush can't be beamed out.

CARTER
No, sir. We'll have to go in with ground forces from the outside.

O'NEILL
All right, Colonel. You have a go.

EXT—SPACE, ORBIT ABOVE LUCIAN ALLIANCE PLANET

[A half dozen F-302s depart the Hammond and head to the planet.]

INT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE

[Distant bombardment can be heard from within the base.]

RUSH/TELFORD
What was that?

KIVA
We're under attack. Can we dial the ninth chevron?

RUSH/TELFORD
Not without blowing everything up.

KIVA

(to aide)
Dial it!
(to everyone)

Get ready! We're going now!

[Varro and others arm themselves heavily. Rush weakly stands and watches the Stargate being dialed.]

INT—KINO ROOM

[Eli watches a Daniel Jackson orientation video on his iPhone.]

DANIEL

(over video)

The Lucian Alliance is an organization of humans from a number of sovereign planets who have taken control of the resources and technology…

[The door to the kino room is opened by Chloe. Eli turns, leaving the video still playing.]

DANIEL

(continuing over video)

The Alliance is made up of power hungry…

CHLOE
Hey.

DANIEL

(over video)

…violence as a means of enforcing their dominion.

[Chloe recognizes what Eli is watching.]

CHLOE
The Air Force video?

DANIEL

(over video)

…The leadership of the Lucian is constantly changing. The association itself is formidable…

ELI
Yeah. I'm just seeing if there's anything in here that might…help.

DANIEL

(over video)

…control a sizable army, and numerous "ha'tak" vessels, or former Goa'uld motherships…

CHLOE
What's he going to do?

DANIEL

(over video)

The Lucian Alliance…

ELI
The Colonel? They're sending an army. What do you think he's going to do?

INT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE

[All the Alliance members watch as the Stargate is dialed.]

EXT—SPACE

[Destiny drops out of faster than light into normal space.]

INT—KINO ROOM

[Eli studies some displays and then directs the monitor to the kino feed of the Gate Room.]

ELI
This is it.

[He slams the bulkhead door to the room shut.]

CHLOE
It's happening now?!

ELI
Yeah.

INT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE

[The Alliance members cringe away from the event horizon. Kiva gives a triumphant look to Rush, who looks surprised and frightened.]

KIVA

Go! Radio back when you reach the other side.
(indicating Rush)

And take him with you.

[A member grabs Rush and drags him along.]

INT—DESTINY GATE ROOM

[Lucian Alliance personnel tumble through the Stargate, scrambling to take defensive positions.]

INT—KINO LAB

ELI

(into radio)

Colonel Young.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Young is in the room with Brody and Volker.]

VOLKER

(into radio)

I see them, Eli. All personnel, report to your designated areas. This is not a drill. Defense teams stand by.

INT—CORRIDORS

[Various military teams take up defensive positions around the corridors of the Destiny.]

SOLDIER
Copy that. Go. Go.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

YOUNG
Which button?

BRODY

(pointing)

This one.

YOUNG
How long will it take until we reach vacuum?

VOLKER
A minute or so?

BRODY
That's about right.

[Young's hand hovers over the button. Brody spots Telford's body being one of the people who tumble through the Gate.]

BRODY
Colonel…

[Young watches as "Telford" grasps his side and looks around worriedly. He hesitates over the button.]

YOUNG

(into radio)

Defense teams, stand by to secure prisoners on my order.

INT—CORRIDORS

[James looks surprised.]

SCOTT

(into radio)

Copy that.

[Greer cocks his rifle.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

YOUNG

(to Brody)

Monitor from here. Stay on the radio.

[Brody studies Young as he leaves.]

BRODY
You got it.

INT—INFIRMARY

RUSH
What happened?

[Rush holds his head, checking the blood on his face. TJ turns.]

TJ
Colonel?

RUSH
No, no, it's me.

TJ
Rush.

RUSH
Yeah. The ship. The Lucian Alliance.

TJ
Yeah, no, we know everything. Telford told us.

RUSH
So, what are we doing about it, then?

TJ
Let's just say it'll all be over in a few minutes.

INT—DESTINY GATE ROOM

[Telford gets his new bearings, now back in his body. He shakes his injured hand and balances on the balls of his feet as he watches more come in.]

INT—CORRIDOR HUB

[Wray directs people to their to different safe locations.]

WRAY
Come on.

EXT—SPACE

[Hammond orbits the Lucian Alliance planet.]

INT—HAMMOND BRIDGE

BRIDGE OFFICER
Colonel. I'm reading a huge energy spike. At this rate, they've got less than a minute before their core goes up.

CARTER
Get our people out of the shielded areas and beam them back to the ship now!

INT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE

[More personnel, this group with cases, go through the Stargate.]

LUCIAN SCIENTIST
The core is going to go critical. I can't stop it!

KIVA
Still no signal from the other side?

[The scientist shakes her head.]

KIVA
Get as many of our people through as you can.

[Kiva heads to the Stargate. The columns begin to collapse around her as she and the others head to the active event horizon.]

LUCIAN ALLIANCE SOLDIERS
Watch it, watch it, clear here!

INT—HAMMOND BRIDGE

BRIDGE OFFICER
Colonel, we still have two 302s on their way back from the planet.

[Carter studies the view from the window, clearly upset.]

CARTER

(grimly)

We can't wait. Get us out of here.

EXT—SPACE

[The Hammond enters hyperspace.]

INT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE

[The remaining few guards die as the room collapses around them.]

EXT—LUCIAN ALLIANCE BASE, NIGHT

[Molten eruptions break through the ravine. Earthquakes and sinkholes destroy the pyramid. Soon the whole planet explodes.]

INT—DESTINY GATE ROOM

[A final Lucian Alliance member gets tossed through the Stargate across the Gate Room with a scream. Everyone is knocked to the floor at the blast wave that hits right before the Stargate shuts down. One guard is too close to the steam vents that decompress by the Stargate and screams as he is burned by the exhaust.]

INT—CORRIDORS

[The power flickers throughout the ship.]

INT—KINO ROOM

CHLOE
Are-aren't we supposed to go to our quarters?

ELI
These are my quarters, and I'm not going anywhere.

[Chloe bites her lip as Eli checks the monitor. The Lucian Alliance are getting back to their feet.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[Young joins Scott's team in a corridor outside the Gate Room.]

SCOTT
Colonel?

YOUNG
They brought Rush along with them. We're going to have to do this the hard way.

[The military personnel exchange worried glances as they stand ready for whenever action will start.]

INT—GATE ROOM

KIVA

(to Telford, whom she believes is Rush)

What did you do to the 'Gate?

TELFORD

(protesting)

It wasn't me.

KIVA
You killed over a hundred of my men!

TELFORD
It was Rush!

[Kiva points her sidearm at Telford. He raises his hands in surrender.]

TELFORD

(desperate)

Massin! Massin. Your father's name. It was my password. Gate travel must have severed the link. It's me.

KIVA
Telford?

YOUNG

(over intercom)

Lucian Alliance forces, you are surrounded and sealed in. You will also find the intel provided by Colonel Telford is now useless. Lay down your weapons in front of the doors and step back into the center of the room with your hands on your heads, or we will vent the entire compartment to space.

KIVA

(to Telford)

Can they do it?

TELFORD
Yes.

KIVA

(coldly)

Then they should have.

[She nods to Varro, who starts a team working. Several members put on a type of gas mask as they affix circular objects over the central door locks of Destiny's bulkhead doors.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Brody watches the feed and sees what the Alliance is doing.]

[The following conversation switches between the corridor where Young is, the Control Room, and the Kino Room.]

BRODY

(into radio)

Colonel, they're up to something.

YOUNG

(into radio)

Talk to me.

ELI
They've got something to open the doors!

YOUNG
Vent the atmosphere in the Gate Room, Brody. Do it now.

BRODY
Too late.

INT—CORRIDOR

[The Gate Room door unseals and an Alliance member throws a smoke bomb and a flash bang out at the crew waiting outside.]

SCOTT
Take cover!

[Shooting ensues between the crew and the Lucian Alliance forces. It is a violent skirmish with military and Alliance members scrambling everywhere.]

JAMES
Get back!

YOUNG
Go! Fall back!

INT—INFIRMARY

[Rush hears distant shouts and hops off his gurney.]

TJ
Uh, Rush, you should stay here.

RUSH
No, no. The ship's under attack.

[He runs out of the room. TJ sighs and primes her sidearm. She is already in a flak vest.]

TJ
Rush! Rush!

[She runs after him.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[People are everywhere in the literal fog of battle as the smoke bomb and smoke from the weapons confuses things more. Greer falls back. Riley too moves back, shooting with his sidearm. An Alliance member shoots back at him and Riley is felled by a head wound. He collapses to the floor as his position is overrun.]

RILEY
Ach! Ack!

[Young and others continue to fall back against the assault.]

INT—KINO ROOM

CHLOE
Okay, Eli, it's time to go.

ELI
No, just wait.

CHLOE

(panicked)

No, Eli, let's go! Now!

ELI
Yeah. Yeah.

[He starts grabbing things as Chloe opens the door.]

INT—KINO CORRIDOR HUB

[The area just outside the room is a center of the battle. Eli and Chloe run for cover as Lucian Alliance members overrun the area.]

ELI
There's an elevator this way.

[They race down the corridors. An Alliance member chases and shoots at them. Chloe grunts, and Eli shoves her into a side corridor, throwing them both into the elevator and sealing the doors just as two Alliance members reach their position.]

INT—ELEVATOR

CHLOE
Oh, god.

[Chloe lowers herself to the floor as Eli gasps in relief.]

ELI
Oh…

INT—CORRIDORS

[Young's group continues their retreat, reaching a bulkhead area.]

SCOTT
Go!

[They are able to seal the doors.]

INT—CORRIDORS

TJ
Rush! Wait!

[TJ is suddenly surrounded by Lucian Alliance forces, all pointing guns at her. Kiva is amongst the number. She grabs TJ's weapon and radio out of her vest. She spots Rush further down the corridor and points her gun, but a bulkhead door seals between them. Rush stares in shock.]

BRODY

(over intercom, to Rush)

You're welcome. Want to get the hell out of there, now?

INT—DESTINY FORWARD DECK

[The elevator opens on an unexplored section of the ship. Eli is crouched over Chloe, upset.]

ELI
Chloe? You've been shot! Sorry, sorry. See, it's okay. You'll be…you'll be okay.

[He smiles as he sees the bullet has gone completely through the meaty part of her thigh.]

CHLOE

(weakly)

Eli…

[He pulls off his belt and wraps it around her leg as a tourniquet.]

ELI
Uh, uh…Okay.

CHLOE
Unh.

[He pulls out a spare bit of paper to put over the wound.]

ELI
Hey, you'll be fine. You'll be fine. Right? Chloe?

[He notices she's passed out.]

ELI
Oh my god.

[He pulls the drawstring out from the hood of his sweatshirt and uses that to tie around the wound. He watches her, looking scared and worried.]

ELI
I'll be right back. Okay?

[He cautiously checks out the corridor. It is quiet and empty. Glancing down, he notices his hands are covered with Chloe's blood.]

ELI
Ugh…

[He starts wiping his hands on his tee-shirt.]

INT—GATE ROOM

[Lucian Alliance personnel herd in captured members of Destinys crew, who are forced to keep their hands on their heads and kneel in the center of the room.]

MALE LUCIAN ALLIANCE MEMBER
Go through this way. Let's go.

FEMALE LUCIAN ALLIANCE MEMBER
Over here.

[Kiva approaches Riley, who is amongst the prisoners and able to walk, although still bleeding from his head. She pulls his radio from his tac vest.]

FEMALE SCIENTIST
Ow.

KIVA

(into radio)

Colonel Young?

[The conversation switches between Young and Kiva's locations.]

YOUNG

(into radio)

Who is this?

KIVA
Commander Kiva of the Lucian Alliance forces. We will not be complying with your request to surrender.

EXT—PENTAGON, ARLINGTON VIRGINIA, DAY

INT—HOMELAND SECURITY HEADQUARTERS

[O'Neill speaks with Carter over a video conference (the conversation bouncing between their locations).]

CARTER
We barely made hyperspace. This time it was even closer.

O'NEILL
What about casualties?

CARTER
Two of my 302s couldn't make it back, and if Rush was still on the planet…

O'NEILL

(gently)

I'm sorry, Sam.

CARTER
Yes, sir. Did any of them make it to Destiny?

O'NEILL

(worried)

I haven't heard.

INT—GATE ROOM

[The prisoners are frisked and stripped of their tactical vests.]

MALE ALLIANCE MEMBER
Hands behind your back. Do it.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Rush, Brody, Park, Young, Wray, and Volker are in the room watching the feed. They see Kiva spotting the kino. She draws her sidearm and shoots it, killing the feed.]

BRODY
So much for that.

RUSH
Why didn't you evacuate the compartment to space?

YOUNG

(quietly)

That was the…plan.

VOLKER

(surprised)

He didn't do it to save you.

RUSH
Not me. The connection was severed the minute I stepped through the 'gate.

YOUNG

(sighing)

Give me the lay of the land.

[Rush pulls up a schematic of the ship.]

RUSH
This is the Gate Room. They also occupy the surrounding corridors. They had advanced further, but they pulled back.

YOUNG
Just took what they could with limited manpower. That's smart.

BRODY
Once they retreated, I locked down the area behind them. Given the technology at their disposal, it won't stop them, but it should give us some breathing room.

RUSH
The prisoners are being held here. Between them and us, thirty feet of corridor either way.

YOUNG
Well, the second we hit those outside section, those hostages are as good as dead.

[Scott arrives carrying a paper.]

SCOTT
Colonel?

YOUNG
Yeah?

SCOTT
I, uh, I've done a head-count. We have twelve missing and presumed captured, including Riley, TJ, Eli, and Chloe.

INT—ELEVATOR

[Eli struggles with a small control panel, trying to get it to work, but it won't operate.]

ELI

(frustrated)

Come on!

CHLOE

(stirring)

Eli?

[He turns and crouches by her.]

ELI

(relieved)

Hey. Hey.

CHLOE

(weakly)

What happened?

ELI
You were shot. I-I stopped the bleeding.

[She starts to look down.]

ELI
No, you're fine. Look up here. Hey, look at me. Look at me.

CHLOE
Where are we?

ELI
I don't know. I've never been to this part of the ship before. I don't think anyone has. I just pressed some random buttons. We can't get back. I'm guessing someone locked out elevator access.

CHLOE
Us or them?

ELI

(grimly)

Yeah…that's the problem.

[He stands and heads into the corridor a short ways.]

ELI
I just need to get to a window. Get an idea of where we are, and…and then we can…walk back.

[As Eli's been talking, Chloe's been struggling to rise, but she cannot stand or put any weight on her injured leg. She cries out in pain.]

ELI
Oh…oh, no, no, no, no. I've got you.

[He hurries to her side, crouching to pick her up, having her put her arms around his neck.]

ELI
Come on. Come here. Ready? Here we go. One-two-three.

[He picks her up, and she groans in pain, but stands, still keeping her arm around him.]

ELI
Okay…okay…Lean on me.

CHLOE
Okay.

ELI
I've got you. Ready?

CHLOE
Yeah.

ELI
Here we go.

[They limp along the corridor together.]

INT—GATE ROOM

[The conversation takes place over the radio, between here and the corridor where Young paces outside the Control Room.]

KIVA
Colonel Young.

YOUNG
Go ahead.

KIVA
Here's how I see the situation. We have the Gate Room and some of your people. You hold the control interface room, which I'm told is the ship's nerve center.

YOUNG
What do you want?

KIVA
We came here for the same reasons you did. We don't want to hurt anyone. You're welcome to stay aboard Destiny and help us realize the potential of her discovery. Lay down your weapons and join us. Or, if you prefer, we can drop you off at the next inhabitable world of your choosing.

YOUNG
Or, I vent the atmosphere in the sections you're occupying and keep the ship.

KIVA

(pausing a moment)

If you had that in you, Colonel, you would've done it already.

INT—CORRIDOR

YOUNG

(into radio)

The point is, I have the ability to end this conversation right now.

[Greer escorts Wray to Young.]

YOUNG
Sergeant?

GREER
She wanted to see you, sir. Wouldn't shut up, in fact.

YOUNG
As you were, Sergeant.

[Greer leaves.]

WRAY
We are way past the point of fighting our way out of this situation. We need to negotiate with these people, and I think I should be the one to—

YOUNG
Yeah, yeah. No. I think you're right.

[Young walks away from her. She looks nonplussed.]

INT—GATE ROOM

[Kiva walks along the line of prisoners, pointing out Riley and a soldier.]

KIVA
Him. Him.

[Telford looks troubled as they're pulled out of the lineup. She pauses by TJ.]

KIVA
And her.

[TJ too is dragged over to another spot where she's made to kneel again. Kiva pulls out her sidearm.]

TELFORD
That's a mistake!

KIVA
It's a demonstration.

[Kiva primes her pistol and aims at the back of TJ's head. Telford hurries over.]

TELFORD
All it will do is force their hand!

[Kiva pauses. Riley and TJ exchange worried sidelong glances.]

TELFORD
Do you want control of the ship or not?

[Kiva considers Telford.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Rush listens in to the conversation between Wray and Young nearby.]

WRAY
They have some of our people.

YOUNG
But we have some of theirs.

WRAY
So the first thing we need to do is suggest an exchange. Do you think they'll do it?

YOUNG
No, but I-I think it's worth a shot.

INT—DESTINY GATE ROOM

[Telford shows Kiva a schematic on a console.]

TELFORD
This is the control interface room. This is the gate room. If we cut our way through the wall here, we can flank them. I can lead a team—

KIVA
That will reduce our numbers here.

TELFORD

(nodding)

Take the control interface room, we won't need them here. The ship will be ours.

[She points to a section in between their location and the area Telford has indicated to cut through the wall.]

KIVA
These sections are in red.

TELFORD
That section of the corridor is exposed to space. The ship's shield will hold long enough for us to pass. We will slowly vent atmosphere into space, yes, but we can seal the corridor again, after we've taken the ship.

[Kiva walks away, considering. She puts out her hand, and an Alliance member gives her his sidearm. She walks over and hands it to Telford.]

KIVA
Take six men.

TELFORD
I'll need twice that…

KIVA

(sharply)

Six. And if anything goes wrong…these three die.

[TJ stares at Telford. He watches her, seemingly unconcerned as he checks his weapon.]

TELFORD
Not her. She's a medic.

[Kiva looks at TJ with renewed interest.]

TELFORD

(continuing)

We can use her in the event that—

WRAY

(over radio)

Commander Kiva.

KIVA

(into radio)

Who is this?

[The conversation switches between the Gate Room and the control room.]

WRAY
My name is Camile Wray. I am the…civilian authority aboard this ship. I'd like to act as an intermediary to resolve this issue without further bloodshed. Col. Young will not transfer control of this ship to you.

KIVA

(exchanging smirks with Telford)

And you will?

WRAY
No. But I will expedite a prisoner exchange—your people for ours.

KIVA
If I release my prisoners, Col. Young will not hesitate to vent this compartment.

WRAY
You have twelve of our people. We have only four of yours. I propose an even trade, four for four. This way you maintain your advantage, and gain some much-needed manpower.

KIVA
Col. Young agrees with this?

WRAY

(glancing at Young)

In our society, the military takes orders from civilian leadership.

[Kiva looks to Telford, who rolls his eyes, but nods an assent.]

KIVA
I'll consider it.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Young takes the radio back from Wray.]

YOUNG
Nice job. That should buy us some time.

RUSH
Look, you're trying to save lives here. Obviously, that's a good thing. But, even if she agrees to the four, which is doubtful, she won't go any further than that. Once the equation tips to the-the point of acceptable losses…

WRAY
No, no, no. There will be no "acceptable losses."

RUSH

(insistent)

Col. Young has already determined what that number is. He knows the chances of us winning without loss of life are practically nil. So limit our losses, yes, all that we can. But eventually you're going to have to do something—

YOUNG

(angry)

You don't know what you're talking about.

RUSH

(angry, talking over Young)

You forget, I've recently been one of your acceptable losses!

YOUNG

(talking over Rush)

You knew what you were getting yourself into, Rush!

RUSH
You should've disconnected the stones and got me out!

YOUNG
You have no clue what you are talking about!

WRAY

(screaming over them both)

Please, guys! Stop this now! Please!

YOUNG
I'm going to save every one of those hostages, and I'm going to retake this ship. You understand me? All right, Telford has convinced her that he is still with them, otherwise he would be dead by now. Sooner or later, he will make his move.

RUSH

(bitter)

So…we are to gamble this ship and all of our lives in the hope that some traitor has had a change of heart.

INT—FORWARD SECTION OF DESTINY

[Eli and Chloe limp to a floor-to-ceiling porthole at the bow of the ship.]

ELI
Look at that. I guess those elevators go more than just up and down.

[They move to another area, and Eli helps Chloe to lean on the balustrade.]

ELI
That's it. Right there. You good?

CHLOE
Yeah.

ELI
I must have hit a few buttons I wasn't supposed to press.

CHLOE
Is the air getting thin?

ELI
Life support isn't working out here.

CHLOE
How do you know?

ELI
I was the one who shut it off. Rush's orders. I mean, there's air, but there isn't any new air being pumped in.

CHLOE
So we need to keep moving.

ELI
Yeah.

[She tries to turn but cries out and starts to fall. Eli catches her before she reaches the floor.]

ELI
Okay.

CHLOE
I don't know if I can.

[Eli lifts her into his arms, carrying her completely.]

ELI

(grinning)

No problem. I got you.

[He carries her away.]

INT—STORAGE ROOM

[Kiva leads TJ into the room. An Alliance member presses a bandage to Varro's shoulder wound; he lies unconscious on the floor.]

KIVA
This is my Lieutenant, Varro. Save him.

[TJ walks over and checks his condition.]

TJ
He's badly wounded.

[Kiva gives TJ a worried, but pointed look.]

INT—DESTINY COMMUNICATIONS ROOM

[Young and James sit across from each other by the active panel.]

YOUNG

(admonishing)

At even the slightest hint of trouble, Lieutenant.

JAMES
I'll bring you back, sir.

[He places a stone on the active panel.]

INT—HOMEWORLD SECURITY STONE ROOM

[The technician Myers sits with his feet up, reading. He starts as it is now Young inhabiting his body. Young jumps to his feet, tossing aside the book and hurrying to the door.]

YOUNG/MYERS

(to guard)

I need to speak to General O'Neill.

INT—O'NEILL'S OFFICE

[Young and O'Neill sit across from each other.]

O'NEILL
Second guessing a decision is a waste of time. I'm not there, but I'm starting to wonder if maybe I should be.

YOUNG/MYERS
I-I can't speak to that, sir.

O'NEILL
This should be done, Colonel. Over.

YOUNG/MYERS
Yes, sir. But at the time, I believed that venting the Gate Room would kill both Dr. Rush and Col. Telford. They deserved a chance…

O'NEILL
We lost two 302 pilots sent to stop the attack.

YOUNG/MYERS
I'm sorry.

O'NEILL
Col. Carter knew she'd lose her ship if she tried to save them, but it was the right decision.

YOUNG/MYERS
Yes, sir.

[He hangs his head as if discouraged.]

O'NEILL
Are you up for this, Everett?

YOUNG/MYERS

(standing)

Yes, sir.

O'NEILL
Because somebody will take your place if you're not.

YOUNG/MYERS
I'm not going to let anybody take that ship, sir.

O'NEILL
Then get your ass back there.

[Young nods and leaves.]

INT—DESTINY CORRIDORS

[An Alliance member uses a cutting torch to create a hole in the bulkhead wall. He finishes and punches it through. While Kiva watches, Telford takes a flashlight and checks out the corridor outside.]

TELFORD
We're good.

[Kiva nods. He leads a team of six through the corridor. They pass under areas where the ship is open to space, only the shield holding the atmosphere inside. Telford approaches and activates a console on the wall.]

SQUAD LEADER
What are you doing?

TELFORD
Just checking to make sure we're headed in the right direction.

[He checks the map on the console.]

TELFORD
This way.

[They head off to the right.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Rush, Brody, Park, and Volker monitor activities. Rush notices the Destiny timer is not lit.]

RUSH
There's no countdown.

VOLKER
What?

RUSH
We dropped out of FTL because someone was gating in. Why haven't we jumped back?

PARK
Someone just activated a console in one of the access corridors.

[They confirm what she is seeing.]

BRODY

(into radio)

Colonel, a console just came on using Telford's code. They're in the cordoned-off section, coming our way.

INT—CORRIDOR

[Rush, Scott and others are moving through the corridor.]

YOUNG

(into radio)

That's his move.

[They start jogging.]

INT—FORWARD SECTION OF DESTINY

[Eli carries Chloe down a corridor.]

CHLOE
It's cold.

ELI
Really? Okay…

[He sets her down against the wall inside one the elevators, then takes off his sweatshirt and puts it on her.]

ELI

(helping her into the sweatshirt)

We have to be careful moving through sections. There's a reason we've never been out this far. A ton of compartments are depressurized. Okay.

CHLOE
Thank you.

ELI
Hold on. Okay…ready?

CHLOE
Yeah.

ELI
Okay.

[They brace themselves against the bulkhead in case of depressurization as Eli hits the control button. The door opens without problem. Eli takes a cautious look ahead to see a straight, empty corridor.]

ELI
More dark and gloomy. We're good.

[He comes back for her and picks her up again, then starts walking.]

ELI
Gotcha. How are you doing?

CHLOE
I'm good.

ELI
You sure?

INT—ACCESS CORRIDOR

[Telford has led the squad. He glances at some lights as he passes, then stops at a door with a glowing red light on the open button. He pushes it but nothing happens. He pushes it again.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[On the other side of that door, Young and his people wait for the Alliance to come through.]

YOUNG

(into radio)

Stand by.

INT—CORRIDOR

[James waits with a different team.]

JAMES

(into radio)

Yes, sir. We're good to go.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

BRODY

(into radio)

Ready.

INT—STORAGE ROOM

[Greer stands by as well.]

GREER
Just give the word, sir.

INT—ACCESS CORRIDOR

TELFORD
It's locked down.

SQUAD LEADER
I'll handle it.

[Everyone else gets out of the way as he puts one of the Alliance unlocking device on the door mechanism and activates it.]

SQUAD LEADER
Okay, get ready.

[The squad prepares their weapons. The ceiling of the bulkhead is open to space but still protected by the shield. However, the shield flutters. The open spots irradiate the squad leader's hand. He screams and grabs his arm but he is standing directly under the stuttering shield. The other Alliance members run away as he screams and disintegrates before Telford's eyes. Telford looks up in horror and backs away.]

[All over the ship the lights flicker and the ship seems to groan. Each group notices from their position.]

SCOTT
What was that?

INT—GATE ROOM

[Kiva and the others become alarmed. They encircle the hostages and point their weapons at them.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[Telford activates the unlock device again. The door opens.]

INT—CORRIDOR

[Young and his team still wait.]

YOUNG
Ready…

[The door opens. It is Telford, alone. He puts his arms up. Young signals for no one to shoot.]

YOUNG
What happened?

TELFORD
You didn't do that?

[Telford kneels beside the pile of ash that used to be the squad leader.]

YOUNG
What is that?

TELFORD
Just a minute ago, it was a man. We need to stand down until we figure this out.

YOUNG

(into radio)

This is Young. Everybody stand down.

[In the control room at at Greer's position, everyone is surprised but they do stand down.]

TELFORD
Throw me a radio.

YOUNG

(to a soldier)

Radio?

[The soldier hands it over to Young, who tosses it to Telford.]

TELFORD
Three clicks, go to channel six. We're going to have to try this again.

[Telford closes the door and carefully removes the unlock device, avoiding the spot where the man had been standing. The ship has stopped stuttering.]

INT—FORWARD SECTION OF DESTINY

[Eli carries Chloe through a wider, modern-looking section of the ship. Eli is breathing heavily from the effort.]

CHLOE
Let's stop.

ELI
Huh? I'm fine.

CHLOE

(admonishing)

Eli.

ELI

(brightly)

Seriously, this is nothing.

[He hoists her higher in his arms.]

ELI
Once, I climbed the Red Ridge Mountains, on my way to Stonard, with a full pack.

CHLOE
Where's that?

ELI

(laughing)

World of Warcraft.

CHLOE

(teasing)

Wow. That must've given you quite the sense of accomplishment.

[Eli grunts in pain.]

CHLOE
Eli.

ELI
Okay, okay, okay. A little break. A little break.

[He sets her down on the floor. Then sits beside her.]

CHLOE
Yeah.

ELI
All right. Oh.

[They take a few moments to breathe.]

CHLOE
So what do you think is happening?

ELI
They've probably won by now.

CHLOE
You think so?

[He gestures as if uncertain.]

CHLOE
If we won, then why haven't we been rescued?

ELI

(feigning lightness)

Well, first, they have to figure out what to do with the prisoners. And then, there's that whole post-victory celebration. I mean, streamers everywhere.

CHLOE

(grinning weakly)

I'm so tired.

ELI
You're still…you're still losing blood. I wasn't able to stop it completely.

CHLOE
Eli…

ELI

(determined)

Hey. I'm going to take care of you.

[They clasp hands tightly.]

INT—GATE ROOM

[Telford speaks to Kiva and the other Alliance members.]

TELFORD

(stridently)

It wasn't them. I don't know what happened to our man, but I know that they had nothing to do with it. They don't have anything that could do that to a person.

KIVA
Are you telling me that they had nothing to do with this?

[She moves to a console. It is flickering and stuttering, non-operational.]

TELFORD
What happened?

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[The same has happened to the consoles in the control room.]

BRODY
Overload in the power relays preceded by temporary disruption of all shipboard systems. Lights to life support.

YOUNG
Well, how the hell did they manage that?

RUSH
They didn't.

YOUNG
Well then, what caused it?

RUSH
That's what I'm trying to figure out.

INT—GATE ROOM

KIVA
They're making their move.

TELFORD
They wouldn't be that obvious.

KIVA

(into radio)

Col. Young. Would you care to tell me what's going on?

INT—CONTROL ROOM

YOUNG

(into radio)

We don't know.

INT—GATE ROOM

KIVA

(into radio)

One of my men is dead.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

YOUNG

(into radio)

You need to know that we had nothing to do with that.

INT—GATE ROOM

KIVA

(into radio)

Yes, so I'm told. I'm going to ask for a show of good faith.

[Some men have brought TJ forward to her.]

YOUNG

(over radio)

What do you want?

[Kiva hands the radio to TJ.]

TJ

(hesitant, into radio)

Colonel?

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Everyone in the room looks up at hearing her voice.]

YOUNG

(concerned, into radio)

Lieutenant. How are you?

INT—GATE ROOM

TJ

(into radio)

I'm fine. We're all fine.

INT—CONTROL ROOM

YOUNG

(into radio)

What is it that they want?

INT—GATE ROOM

TJ

(into radio)

Some of their people are injured badly. I'm going to need medical supplies to help them.

[Young nods but doesn't respond.]

EXT—space

[Destiny barely moves.]

INT—CONTROL ROOM

[Wray is now there.]

RUSH
What will this accomplish?

WRAY
A goodwill gesture doesn't have to accomplish anything.

RUSH
Of course it does! So they lack medical supplies. Who knows what else they might lack? Food, water? Now in time, they're going to get desperate and make their move. And when they do, they'll be dealing with the hostages first. There's only one way this is going to end if we wait.

WRAY
How do you know that? We don't even know what's going on with the ship.

YOUNG
All the more reason to act now. Rush is right. We have to take them down, and we have to do it right now.

FADE OUT
