Character Biography

SG-1 was in search of the alleged treasure of riches and weapons left behind by the Ancients before they ascended, based on the legend of the Clava Thessara Infinitas, the "Key to Infinite Treasure". Daniel had access to the Goa'uld Athena's research into the possible code to the tablet that revealed the Stargate address of the treasure's location. Using her research, Daniel suggested going to P4M-328.

Once they arrived, they realized that they were in a museum and that the DHD on display with the Stargate was a fake. Unfortunately, they were discovered by the people who were attending a party in the building. Seeing that they carried weapons, the partygoers immediately believed that SG-1 was a team of rebels. A firefight caused the museum to go into lockdown and not all of the party guests were able to escape before the exits were barred.

During the firefight, one of the government security personnel assigned to escort the Viceroy and Chancellors of their government was injured. Daniel wanted to help the man, and after being convinced by his teammates that they should pose as the rebels they were thought to be in order to buy about six hours for Landry's check-in, he requested that Lourdes Maylay, the hostage negotiator, send in medical personnel to remove him for treatment. The police sent some of their own undercover, posing as medical technicians, and attempted to take out the perceived leader of the rebel group, Daniel, by using a weapon that discharged an electrical charge upon contact.

This action only made Mitchell angry and upset. Eventually, Maylay was replaced by the chief hostage negotiator, Quartus. After Daniel recovered from the assault, he continued to talk to Quartus on behalf of his team over the radio. One of the hostages, Cicero, provided Daniel with limited information about what types of demands the real rebels would make so that Quartus would be busy trying to meet those demands while Mitchell and Vala sought out a power source to unlock the Stargate so that it could be manually dialed home.

Mitchell and Vala took Cicero with them in search of the DHD's power crystal. The crystal wasn't among the pieces of the real DHD found near the Stargate, but they did find a Goa'uld naquadah bomb in one of the museum's display cases. A security guard named Jayem Seran contacted Quartus on his radio and offered to help the police, but Quartus requested that he not get involved because it was too dangerous. Seran concluded that the radios were compromised and decided that Quartus really wanted his help. He tried to take Mitchell and Vala hostage, but he was outnumbered and outmaneuvered and ended up a captive of them instead. While Mitchell and Vala were occupied with Seran, Cicero slipped out of the building and tried to tell Quartus the truth about SG-1.

Daniel had a very difficult time posing as a rebel and sometimes he confused Quartus with his promises to not harm the hostages, then rapidly changing his mind and threatening to hurt them if there was any deception on Quartus's part. Quartus conferred with the Viceroy about the "rebel" demands and agreed that none of them would be met. Daniel grew more concerned after Quartus failed to make a regular check-in with him after a twenty-minute silence. Soon, his concerns were validated when Quartus sent in a repelling unit into the museum, firing their weapons on their way down into the main room where Daniel and Teal'c were watching over the hostages.

Making their way to the Stargate that Mitchell and Vala successfully activated with the bomb's power core, the reunited team almost made their escape, but were soon surrounded by heavily armed police led by Quartus. Not believing Cicero's story about SG-1's being visitors from another planet, Quartus was not ready to let them go, but Mitchell convinced him otherwise, stating, "We're a peaceful people, but we do not take acts of aggression lying down. So you let us walk through that ring, and when and how we meet again, will be under your control. Prevent us from leaving, and it won't be." As soon as the team left and the Stargate deactivated, Quartus made up a cover story that made Seran the hero and that denied the true nature of the Stargate and the travelers. Soon thereafter, the people of P4M-328 buried their Stargate.
