Earth

Summary

As home planet to Stargate Command and most of its personnel, several locations on the "Tau'ri" or first world have appeared on Stargate: SG-1. Although several places were in unspecified locations, if a place was named, it is listed below.

Antarctica

Antarctica is the ice covered continent at Earth's southern pole where an international treaty ensures only scientific research and no military bases or development is established.

• McMurdo — permanent international research station located in Antarctica (1.18 "Solitudes", 6.04 "Frozen").

• Antarctic Research Station — site of SGC research facility after the discovery of the Antarctic Stargate and where they discovered and treated Ayiana (6.04 "Frozen").

• Antarctic Outpost — outpost of the Ancients, buried under a mile of ice and snow until recovered by SG-1 during Anubis's attack on the planet (7.22 "Lost City Part 2" and subsequent episodes).

Belize

Country in Central America where Dr. Nicholas Ballard found a Crystal Skull (3.21 "Crystal Skull").

Canada

Canada is the second largest country in the world and is located in North America. It is the home country of Rodney McKay and is one of the nations that is part of the International Oversight Advisory (IOA).

• Vancouver — city on western coast of Canada. Home of the hockey team "the Canucks", which Teal'c believed to be the favorites to win the hockey championship one year (6.08 "The Other Guys"). NOTE: Also, the real location where Stargate: SG-1 is filmed.

China

China is the third largest country in the world and is located in Asia. It is one of the nations that is part of the International Oversight Advisory (IOA).

Egypt

A country in Africa.

• Giza — site where a Stargate was discovered by Dr. Langford in 1928. Later where the Nazis recovered a DHD, eventually confiscated by the Russians (Stargate: The Movie).

• Cairo— modern city in Egypt where Steven Rayner flew, followed by Daniel Jackson, Samantha Carter, and Janet Fraiser (4.14 "The Curse").

• where the 1931 Steward expedition uncovered the tomb of Isis and Osiris, and where Osiris later fled to reach a hidden ship and escape the planet (4.14 "The Curse").

England

England is an island country in Europe and is one of the nations part of the International Oversight Advisory (IOA).

• Avalon — caves under Glastonbury Tor where Merlin stored his research and riches until those who could solve his riddles would be rewarded (9.01 "Avalon Part 1").

France

France is a country in Europe and is one of the nations that is part of the International Oversight Advisory (IOA).

Germany

In 1982, when the country was divided into East Germany and West Germany, Jack O'Neill went on a covert mission in East Germany that went horribly bad (2.04 "The Game Keeper").

Honduras

Country in Central America. Location of temple once ruled by Telchak and where Daniel Jackson and Bill Lee recovered the Telchak Device (7.11 "Evolution Part 1").

• Tegucigalpa — closest town twenty miles away from the location where Daniel Jackson and Bill Lee meet their guide to the temple, Rogelio and Jack O'Neill later meets Burke for the rescue operation (7.11 "Evolution Part 1").

Iraq

Country in Asia where the United States fought a war in the early 1990s (as well as one now).

• Jack O'Neill and Samantha Carter both served in action during the first Gulf War (1.01 "Children Of The Gods Part 1").
• A wounded Jack O'Neill spent four months in an Iraq prison cell after being left behind by his commanding officer Frank Cromwell (2.15 "A Matter Of Time"
• Jack O'Neill broke several bones when his parachute opened late over the Iraq/Iran border in the 1980s; he spent nine days getting himself to safety (1.18 "Solitudes").

Laos

Country in Asia that neighbors Vietnam; Hank Landry crashed near here and evaded Vietcong during the Vietnam War (10.05 "Uninvited).

Mexico

Country in North America; location where the Goa'uld Hathor was discovered in a sarcophagus in a Mayan temple (1.14 "Hathor").

Russia

Country that transects Europe and Asia continents. Former rival and suspicious ally of the United States, Russia recovered the Giza Stargate from the ocean and started their own program in a silo in an unnamed location. They later agreed to cease their program and eventually leased the Stargate to the USA (4.07 "Watergate" and subsequent episodes).

• Moscow — capital of Russia
  • where various negotiations between the SGC and their Russian counterparts have taken place (5.14 "48 Hours", 8.14 "Full Alert").
  • Daniel Jackson once dreamed he had destroyed the city when given a dream by Shifu the harsesis (4.17 "Absolute Power").

Nicaragua

Country in Central America where rebels brought kidnapped Daniel Jackson and Bill Lee after they recovered the Telchak Device and from where the pair were later rescued by Jack O'Neill and Burke (7.11 "Evolution Part 1", 7.12 "Evolution Part 2").

Turkey

• Incerlik — Neighboring country to Iraq where the United States ran Operation Proven Force during the first Gulf War. Jack O'Neill knew Lt. Col. Beck when they ran missions out of this location (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

United States

Country in North America and home to Stargate Command, as well as home nation for many of its personnel, including SG-1. Below are locations separated by state:

Alabama

• Florence— possible location of where abductee of Loki lived (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

Alaska

• Anubis's mothership crashed into the Pacific Ocean approximately one thousand miles south west of Alaska (6.03 "Descent").

• Fairbanks — Carter lied about a 1978 alien spaceship crash a hundred miles from Fairbanks in the Prometheus cover story she gave to reporters (6.11 "Prometheus").

Arizona

• Salome— possible location of where abductee of Loki lived (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

California

• Los Angeles — where the rogue NID had a safehouse in which they conducted experiments on symbiote clones (7.19 "Resurrection").

• San Diego — city where Mark Carter (brother of Samantha) and his family reside (1.07 "Cold Lazarus" and subsequent).

• San Francisco — possible location where person abducted by Loki lived (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

• Stanford — prestigious California university where Carter wanted to have access to their computers to study a strange crystal artifact (1.07 "Cold Lazarus"); also where Richard Flemming got his degree (6.05 "Nightwalkers").

Colorado

• Air Force Academy — military college for the United States Air Force; Samantha Carter, Cameron Mitchell, Bryce Ferguson, and possibly Jack O'Neill are all graduates of this institution. New SGC recruits are culled from the best and brightest among the potential officers (4.19 "Prodigy", 5.13 "Proving Ground" among others).

• Air Force Academy Hospital — hospital affiliated with Air Force Academy, it is also the closest medical location with clearance to treat both physical and mental ailments, for both base personnel and aliens that cannot be treated at Cheyenne Mountain. Both Janet Fraiser and Dr. MacKenzie of Stargate Command had offices at this hospital (2.02 "In The Line Of Duty", 3.04 "Legacy", and 9.14 "Stronghold" among others).

• Colorado Springs — city in Colorado and closest civilization to Cheyenne Mountain/Stargate Command. Many of the base personnel, including SG-1 live here. Also location of:

• Cheyenne Mountain — military base that is/was the home of NORAD and the super-secret program of Stargate Command (SGC) Base aka Area 52.

• Denver — city in Colorado; former home and work locale of police detective Pete Shanahan (7.15 "Chimera").

• Peterson Air Force Base — United States Air Force Base in close proximity to Cheyenne Mountain and Colorado Springs.

• Silver Creek — town near where O'Neill's cabin was said to be located when SG-1 and Hank Landry went there for downtime 10.05 "Uninvited" (see also, Minnesota).

Connecticut

• Yale — prestigious university where Dr. Simon Coombs taught applied math (6.08 "The Other Guys").

Illinois

• Chicago — birthplace of Jack O'Neill (5.04 "The Fifth Man"); location of university where Daniel Jackson worked under Dr. David Jordan, and possibly received one or more of his doctorates (4.14 "The Curse").

Indiana

• home of Joe Spencer, a barber with the Ancient gene (8.15 "Citizen Joe").

Iowa

• Iowa City — possible location where person abducted by Loki lived (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

Massachusetts

• Harvard — prestigious university where Richard Woolsey received both an MBA and an LLB (7.18 "Heroes Part 2").

• Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) — prestigious university where the MALP was developed (1.01 "Children Of The Gods Part 1"); also where Jay Felger was a lecturer in residence (6.08 "The Other Guys").

Michigan

• Wayland — possible location where person abducted by Loki lived (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

Minnesota

• where Jack O'Neill was raised (5.04 "The Fifth Man" among others)

• location of Jack O'Neill's cabin (see also Silver Creek, Colorado) (3.22 "Nemesis Part 1", 6.14 "Smoke And Mirrors" among others).

Montana

• Where the Alien Fugitives' escape pod landed and where Martin Lloyd and the others tried to assimilate into Earth culture before Martin contacted SG-1 (4.11 "Point Of No Return").

Nevada

• Area 51 — a restricted part of Nellis Air Force Base where research and development is done on alien technology found by Stargate Command.

• Las Vegas — where Vernon Sharpe bought an airline ticket to escape the quarantine (6.13 "Sight Unseen").

New York

• New York Metropolitan Museum of Art — presumably in New York City, location where a young Daniel Jackson witnessed his parents dying under an exhibit collapse they were setting up (2.04 "The Game Keeper").

• New York — where Catherine Langford lived in the late 1960s (2.21 "1969"); possible home of a person abducted by Loki (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

• Woodstock — small region where Michael and Jenny were headed to a concert in 1969 before being sidelined by a time traveling SG-1's quest (2.21 "1969").

North Dakota

• Minot — location of Air Force base, Adrian Conrad was kept in an NID safehouse nearby (5.14 "48 Hours").

Oregon

• unspecified location in the state is the mental hospital where Nicholas Ballard committed himself after a nervous breakdown (3.21 "Crystal Skull").

• Sandy — possible location where person abducted by Loki lived (7.03 "Fragile Balance").

• Steveston — small company town that was taken over by cloned Goa'uld symbiotes (6.05 "Nightwalkers").

Texas

• original home of George Hammond (1.12 "Bloodlines") .

Utah

• Parowen — location of NID warehouse where Maybourne ran a secondary Stargate program (2.14 "Touchstone").

Washington

• not to be confused with Washington, D. C., the state of Washington is in the Northwestern corner of the contiguous United States.

• Unknown location — where Seth maintained his cult of followers (3.02 "Seth").

• Seattle — city in Washington.
  • St. Christina's — Abandoned hospital in Seattle area was where Adrian Conrad brought the captive Samantha Carter for experimentation (5.11 "Desperate Measures");
  • headquarters of Colson Industries (8.08 "Covenant").
  • location of the Halcyon Tower, built with naquadah was rigged to explode by Ba'al when he made Earth his home (9.07 "Ex Deus Machina").

Washington, D.C region

• Washington, D.C. is the national capital of the United States
  • The Stargate was stored in a military warehouse in this area in 1969 (2.21 "1969").

• Air Force Headquarters — a building apparently in downtown Washington where Samantha Carter and Jack O'Neill were to receive their Air Medals in a formal presentation by the President (2.09 "Secrets").

• Bethesda — located in neighboring state of Maryland, was location of private military contractors, including one of the Trust companies headed by Ba'al (9.07 "Ex Deus Machina").

• Pentagon — technically located in neighboring Virginia, the Pentagon is the headquarters for all the United States military, including the office of Homeworld Security and the civilian oversight NID.

• White House — home and office of the President of the United States

Vietnam

Country in Asia; location of armed internal conflict that the United States was involved with in the late 1960s and 1970s (and where George Hammond and Hank Landry (in Bien Hoa) served) (5.22 "Revelations", 10.05 "Uninvited).
