Geopolitical Structure and History
P9J-333 is a forested world. The atmosphere has a rosy glow to it and a large moon is visible even in daylight. The people there lived on the planet for several generations and according to Colonel Reynolds, were capable hunters. There were no large predators on the planet that would cause any threat to the human population.
SG-3 visited P9J-333 to conduct covert surveillance on the inhabitants to determine whether or not they would follow the Ori. If not, SG-3's orders were to make contact with the population. When villagers began to disappear, and their bodies later found mutilated, SG-3 apparently revealed their presence. The villages explained no creature they knew of would cause these problems. The villagers were terrified and wondered if the monster was a threat by the Prior.
SG-3 returned to the planet with Teal'c, Vala, and SG-25 to hunt down the creature(s) causing this devastation. The monster attacked SG-25, injuring all four. Teal'c later destroyed the monster with a grenade when it tried to attack Vala. A necropsy later revealed the creature was a harmless herbivore that had undergone a mutation when exposed to a radioactive parasite.
The parasite came from another dimension and had been exposed to the planet by SG-3. They were using modified Sodan cloaking devices in their initial surveillance, and the parasites bled through the dimension because of the modifications.
