SG-1 and Roshure being judged by Taldor

P3X-775 was a planet of island states controlled by the judicial body, the "Taldor", a xenophobic and strict ruling body. It was also the first place General George Hammond ever traveled to by Stargate.

Geopolitical Structure and History

P3X-775 was a planet of several island states. For a time, some of these states were at war with each other. The area near the Stargate was heavily wooded, and declared by the Taldor to be ancient.

The Taldor eventually ruled many, if not all of the island states on the planet. They had zero tolerance for crime. According to Linea, the Taldor had explored the other planet, Hadante, through the Stargate and determined that though Hadante once teemed with life, only ruins now remained. The Taldor could see no other use except as a prison. All infractions carried the same life sentence, banishment through the Stargate to Hadante. Because of this, there was very little crime, except for crimes of passion or the occasional sociopath.

At one point all the island states were at war; also at this time a strange affliction struck the various peoples. It was at this time that Linea claimed she came forth and tried to find a cure, but instead exacerbated the situation. According to another escaped prisoner, Simian, Linea had created the sickness, ensuring she could not get it herself. She promised to save the rest, but the disease spread, island to island. Half a world was destroyed by the time she was finally caught and stopped. The Taldor sent Linea to Hadante for crimes against humanity.

The culture appears to be somewhat advanced technologically. They were able to use beaming technology to transport individuals to the trial chamber, as well as strip them of any weapons. SG-1 trespassed in the ancient grounds just by walking through the Stargate. They unwittingly broke Taldor law again when they tried to help a frightened man who was running. As it turned out Roshure was an accused murderer who was trying to escape the Taldor. SG-1 was convicted with him for crimes ranging from trespassing to essentially accessories after the fact for Roshure's murder.

SG-3 and SG-9 tried unsuccessfully to negotiate for SG-1's release. Hammond even took his first trip through the Stargate to P3X-775 to try to directly negotiate with the Taldor, but he too failed. SG-1 eventually escaped Hadante with the help of Linea, but it is unclear if anyone on P3X-775 ever knew of this fact.
