Geopolitical Structure and History

P2X-887 was a planet used by Anubis for a secret underground base. After his defeat, some of the Jaffa formerly loyal to him joined the Rebel Jaffa movement. They shared their knowledge with the SGC of the abandoned base, including a control that would allow access to the facility.

Believing the base may still contain weapons that could prove useful, and worried that Ba'al would soon learn of the base's location, SG-1 requested that they go to the planet for a recon mission. O'Neill consented, but insisted SG-3 be taken as backup. Lt. Col Carter ordered SG-3 to remain at the Stargate to guard it while SG-1 looked for the base.

SG-1 stumbled across the entrance to the base when their device activated the ring controls. They ended up trapped in the base with no way out for three days. During their time there, they also discovered that nothing useful remained in the facility.

Col. Reynolds became worried when they were nineteen minutes late for a radio check-in, and was about to make a search when the Stargate was buzzed by an al'kesh. SG-10, 11, and 12 joined SG-3 in the search for the missing team.

Ba'al had apparently been monitoring the radio communications, and decided to take advantage of SG-1's disappearance. He bluffed to Gen. O'Neill that he had captured the team, demanding a prisoner exchange of SG-1 for Camulus. While these negotiations were taking place, Ba'al had placed several Jaffa on the planet to hunt for the missing SG-1.

When SG-1 finally found their way out of the base, they encountered Ba'al's Jaffa and ended up pinned down at the Stargate. O'Neill at first refused to green light their GDO code, believing them to have been compromised by being in Ba'al's hands. When SG-1 convinced him they had always been on P2X-887, he ordered the iris open, and SG-1 was able to make their escape.
