Charlotte Mayfield
Host to Goa'uld Athena

Summary

Charlotte Mayfield was The Trust's plant inside the aeronautics firm Farrow-Marshall where she served as the company's Vice President. She was also host to the Goa'uld Athena.

Character Biography

When the Goa'uld infiltrated the rogue group called The Trust, they gained access to several large corporations which had defense contracts. The Goa'uld Ba'al went to Earth after the defeat of the System Lords so that he could make a fresh start. He used the network of Goa'uld already within The Trust to start his empire building. One of the companies infiltrated was Farrow-Marshall Aeronautics based in Bethesda, Maryland. (8.14 "Full Alert", 9.07 "Ex Deus Machina")

Carter interviewed Mayfield after Alex Jameson, the company's chief financial officer, went missing after he was captured by the Free Jaffa. Carter didn't sense a Goa'uld within her, but since Ba'al had developed a drug which masked the Goa'uld's presence, it could have been that Mayfield used it to keep her symbiote's presence a secret. (7.14 "Fallout", 9.07 "Ex Deus Machina")

Ba'al had created several clones to operate on Earth. These clones were busy buying Trust corporations and building a conglomerate of businesses which had access to advanced technology, as well as served under contract with the U.S. government's Department of Defense. Mayfield was one of the clone's chief aide. When the SGC raided their headquarters, Ba'al had already been captured by the Free Jaffa, but Mayfield escaped the use of the symbiote poison and returned to an apartment which she shared with the remaining Ba'al clones (at least four of them). (9.07 "Ex Deus Machina")

It was later discovered that Mayfield was the host to the Goa'uld Athena who had never really gained much status within the System Lord power structure. According to the research conducted by Daniel with information gained from the Jaffa, the Tok'ra, the captured Trust operative Weaver, and Ancient records (most likely from Merlin's library from Camelot), she had allied herself with Cronus, Camulus, Svarog, and Anubis. Also, her activities had her working with Qetesh, the Goa'uld who was onced hosted by Vala. Athena used the contacts that Mayfield had within The Trust to capture Vala in order to probe her mind for Qetesh's memories. She was searching for the whereabouts of a device called the Clava Thessara Infinitas (Key to Infinite Treasure) which had supposedly been left by the Ancients before their ascension. This Treasure was later deemed an elaborate hoax, but Qetesh had led Athena to believe that she had found it. (10.08 "Memento Mori")

Athena's use of the memory probe on Vala was interrupted when the SGC found her hideaway, a warehouse, but Athena herself was not present when Vala escaped. Using Mayfield's contacts, she continued to search for Vala for either recapturing her or proving to herself that she was dead from the warehouse's explosion. Vala's memories had been erased when the probe's power surged during the rescue attempt, so for a while she wandered aimlessly in the area until she took a job as a waitress in a diner. She was eventually rescued by SG-1 and regained her memories. (10.08 "Memento Mori")

Although not mentioned outright, it can be assumed that Mayfield was freed from Athena after it was discovered that she was a host. Athena's research into the location of the Ancient treasure was handed over to Daniel Jackson for further investigation. (10.08 "Memento Mori", 10.16 "Bad Guys")
