The Villagers of Ver Isca are humans who live in a far galaxy, home of a race of Ascended Beings known as the Ori. The Ori forced the villagers to worship them. The Administrator of Ver Isca, Seevis was secretly head of a heretical resistence movement against the Ori. Vala Mal Doran ended up in Ver Isca after she stopped the Ori from having a beachhead in the Milky Way Galaxy. She stayed in the village, eventually marrying Tomin the man who found her. The resistence members were killed by Tomin, before he, Vala, and several other villagers took off in Ori Warships in their planned invasion of the Milky Way Galaxy. The Villagers of Ver Isca were introduced in the episode, 9.19 "Crusade".
