Geopolitical and Structural History

Amon Shek is a planet with the Stargate close to a shoreline. A large wooded area stood between the Stargate and pyramid that served as the main structure of the region. At least one set of rings was near the Stargate. Possibly another set was closer to the pyramid (as well as rings inside the structure itself). The Stargate region, during Khonsu's reign, was guarded by Jaffa cannons.

Lord Khonsu of Amon Shek was by all appearances a Goa'uld overseeing one of the worlds of Anubis's domain (6.08 "The Other Guys"). In truth, Khonsu was a Tok'ra spy. He sent his First Prime, Herak, to capture SG-1. The capture was a ruse to enable Khonsu to impart vital information to SG-1. Herak became aware of Khonsu's true nature and after SG-1's capture; he killed Khonsu and took over Amon Shek, holding SG-1 as captives until Anubis arrived.

Two civilian scientists, unaware SG-1 allowed themselves to be captured, had snuck aboard the ha'tak and tried to rescue the team. When they realized SG-1 was truly in danger, Dr. Felger and Dr. Coombs pretended to be Jaffa and infiltrated the pyramid headquarters of the planet. They stumbled into a control room where they were able to deactivate SG-1's cell. Dr. Felger rendezvoused with the team carrying weapons for them, and the team cleared the heavily guarded route to the Stargate. Jack O'Neill and Teal'c were forced to ring back to the facility to rescue Dr. Coombs from the control room before all could make their escape from the planet.

Although not listed by name, the appearance of Arkad's headquarters is identical to Amon Shek. Arkad gave the location to the SGC ostensibly as a sign of good faith as he professed innocence to attacks against the Free Jaffa and rumored planned attacks on the Tau'ri(10.17 "Talion"). Revealing the address of his headquarters also served as either a trap or to ensure that if Arkad was attacked by Teal'c seeking vengeance for the events on Dar Eshkalon, the Tau'ri would be to blame.

The physical appearance of the Stargate and the pyramid base did not change. Arkad set up a large chamber to act as a place for him to train and for kel'no'reem and/or prayer to the Ori. A heavily wooded area still stood between the pyramid and the Stargate.

SG-1 and SG-3 were ordered to Arkad's headquarters by Landry and the IOA to stop Teal'c at all costs. They ringed down to the planet from Odyssey and tried to set a trap to stop Teal'c. Teal'c got past them, rendering the team members unconscious. He further killed several of Arkad's guards at the pyramid before being wounded twice by staff weapons. The injured Teal'c was dragged to Arkad's meditation chamber where he engaged in one-on-one combat with Arkad. Arkad was killed in the encounter and Teal'c severely injured. SG-1 arrived as the killing blow was struck by Teal'c, and they brought their teammate back to the SGC to recover.
