Geopolitical Structure and History

The homeworld of Martin Lloyd and his crewmates had a highly advanced civilization. Technologically speaking, it had mastered faster-than-light space travel, had advanced pharmaceuticals, and transporters that converted matter into energy. The city near the Stargate appeared to have at least one monorail system and a very advanced architecture, including skyscrapers.

The Goa'uld came to the planet wanting to enslave the people there and demanding to be considered their gods. Martin and the rest of his crew were sent to find allies to help them fight the invaders. Their ship approached Earth, but the crew soon discovered Earth was not advanced enough to help them. Knowing their people were losing the war, the crew decided to desert. They left the ship hiding in the solar system near Mars and jettisoned to Earth in an escape pod, which landed in a field in Montana.

Martin had second thoughts about abandoning their people, so Tanner and the others plied him with drugs which caused long-term memory loss. Martin fought against the effects of the drugs, however they caused him to become confused and paranoid. He approached Jack O'Neill at Cheyenne Mountain. SG-1 investigated his claims, at first thinking Martin was a harmless conspiracy addict. They changed their minds when Tanner's men captured Sam and Daniel, and Martin provided Jack and Teal’c with Stargate coordinates and led them to the escape pod.

Tanner and his men escaped, but Martin returned to the SGC with SG-1. Hammond sent a MALP through to Martin's coordinates and allowed Martin to return, accompanied by Jack and Teal'c. As the MALP showed, the people living on the planet lost their battle against the Goa'uld. The city was in ruins and there were no signs of life anywhere. Dejected that everyone had died, Martin returned to Earth with Jack and Teal’c.

About a year later, Martin's spaceship headed towards Earth. It was set on a timer and homed in on a remote device Martin had taken from Tanner last year. Martin decided to stay on Earth, but three of his crewmates transported aboard the ship and left for parts unknown.
