Apparently, the Black Knight is programmed to terrorize the village whenever anyone enters the library. Worse, before SG-1 can de-activate the murderous hologram, the ''Odyssey'' unexpectedly beams them away. They're needed elsewhere, because the Free Jaffa have discovered the Ori's Supergate.

A coalition of human, Free Jaffa, Asgard and Tok'ra warships are assembling there, ready for battle. Because Merlin's weapon could stop the Ori in a single stroke, however, SG-1 splits up. Daniel and Mitchell beam back to the library; the new Russian ship ''Korolev'' will pick them up later on its own trip to the Supergate. Carter leaves with the ''Odyssey'', and Teal'c seeks out the renegade Lucian Alliance to persuade them to join the fight.

In Camelot, the Black Knight nearly kills Mitchell before Daniel manages to deactivate it. Afterward, Daniel pieces together clues that suggest the weapon looks like a red stone pendant, but it isn't in the library. Instead, according to Meurik, the missing stone was the object of Arthur's quest. Before Daniel and Mitchell can figure out how to track down Arthur, however, the ''Korolev'' beams them away. Their time's up.

"Camelot is the name of the stronghold of the legendary King Arthur, from which he fought many of the battles that made up his life. Its specific location is currently unknown and may be a fictionalized Romano-British province of post-Roman Britain. It is described as many days' journey from Avalon. Various stories present Camelot's court in varying ways, anything from welcoming followers of both the Celtic and the Christian gods, to exclusively one or the other. Since the location of Camelot is still a mystery, the truth about it—if there is one—is still unknown." — [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Camelot WikiPedia, the free encyclopedia].
Meanwhile, at the Supergate, Carter and the Asgard Kvasir plan to reconfigure the Supergate's control crystals, dial the Ori galaxy, and attack the enemy through their own 'gate. Even after learning that Daniel and Mitchell couldn't find the weapon, Carter still risks a dangerous spacewalk to reprogram the 'gate. After all, if it's dialed out, then the Ori can't begin their invasion by dialing in. But before Carter can complete her deep-space sabotage, the Supergate activates. As she watches from her lonely vantage point, the massive ships of the Ori pour through and unleash their devastating weapons.

STORYLINE:
The holy war has begun.

SG-1 discusses the legend of Arthur with Meurik, the governor of the medieval village, Camelot. Meurik is surprised to learn that the legend of Arthur has spread beyond their world. They are joined by Antonius, the village historian. The team learns from them that in their version of history, Arthur triumphed at Camlan rather than being mortally wounded by Mordred as in the Earth version. The villagers believe that Arthur left after his victory to search for the Holy Grail, and that when he finds it, he will return to them. Meurik also believes that the Ori are not a risk to their village.

According to the villagers, Merlin was the product of a human and a demon and therefore was capable of much mischief in spite of being Arthur’s trusted friend.

Antonius tells SG-1 that Merlin left behind a library, his private sanctuary. However it is protected by a powerful curse and a guardian: a black knight.

SG-1 learns about a key to the library from Valencia, a teenage girl who is an excellent swordsman. Once they know about the key, SG-1 is able to convince Antonius to help them get into the library, where they find a secret passageway behind a shelf of books. The passageway leads to a chamber with Ancient technology. However, the black knight has been awakened and must be dealt with.

"The director's cut of Camelot will soon follow. Speaking of which, Michelle [Michelle Comens, VFX Producer] showed us the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animatics animatics] [previsualizations, film reel: animation of storyboard illustrations which might also include music, sound effects, and dialog] for the space battle and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Extra-vehicular_activity EVA] [Extravehicular Activity: spacewalk] sequence today. They're going to be great. Also, checked out dailies today. Ben [Browder] [...] was getting good and muddy showing off his mad sword skills. John Noble (aka Denethor from Lord of the Rings) and Katharine Isabelle (Ginger Snaps) guest star." — Joseph Mallozzi in his GateWorld Blog, October 4.

According to John Noble's website, www.johnnoble.net, Noble has been cast to play Meurik, the governor of the medeival village on an alien planet. He is courteous, intelligent, and strong, but dismisses the threat of the Ori. He strongly believes that King Arthur will return to his throne after finding the "sangraal" (Holy Grail). He becomes furious with Daniel and Mitchell after they disobey his orders and gain access to Merlin's library and release the Black Knight. After Mitchell impresses him with apparently vanquishing the Black Knight, Meurik offers Daniel and Mitchell his village's hospitality until Arthur returns with the sangraal.

"Just finished watching the director's cut of Camelot. Well, not exactly. I just got off the phone with Martin Wood, congratulating him on the terrific job he did on Camelot - which I just finished watching. It's huge in scope and really feels like a two-parter. There's so much going on including that swordfight I mentioned in a previous blog. HOLY CRAP does Ben take some punishment in this one. He lays it all out and, well, kicks ass. He's been an incredible addition to the show. Michael is also great in this one - determined, occasionally flustered, occasionally cool, and funny. Amanda gets to play both the scientist and the adventurer, while Chris gets to do some throwing down himself. Overall, a terrific season (let's hope not a series) ender." — Joseph Mallozzi in his GateWorld Blog, October 12.

In answer to a question on his Q&A thread in the GateWorld Forum, Joseph Mallozzi said that the Asgard drop in to lend a hand in this episode, which is now in post-production (October 21).
