How Don S. Davis got into the business, why Hammond was so mad at Jack in Children Of The Gods, rough and tumble, Chris Judge's flatulence, forming a movie production company with Michael Shanks, Michael's departure and return, the reasons why Jonas didn't work as a character and much, much more. Much! Thanks to Sharyn for a wonderful transcript :))
Chapter Three: The Outline. Joseph Mallozzi muses on such diverse topics as tending the liquorless bar, Hannibal's map of the Alps and the really hard part of writing, which is apparently coming up with the title, even after double-dessert. Scraping the bottom of the title barrel bring us: "Stuff Happens!" At which point the wise writer recognises that it may be easier to actually write the episode. A spoiler-free version is available so the spoilerphobes (you guys know who you are!) can still enjoy the diary.
Jacqueline Samuda talks about her experiences filming Stargate, about her character Nirrti and also about acting, writing and directing. It's a fascinating and entertaining read and we'll never think of dog biscuits in quite the same way again...
Ben Strait asks Michael Shanks about future developments for his character Daniel Jackson. There are difficulties in balancing Daniel's recall of his experiences as an ascended being and the consequences of that with not having in place a 'super-character' who can answer any question or deal with any situation. Michael Shanks once again reiterates his desire and that of the writers to have Daniel be a more active and forward-moving individual. We also learn more about Michael's experiences of the writing process.
We're asked a lot who wrote or directed a particular episode, and as well as including this information for each entry in our Episode Guide, with each season now linked from the top of each page at the site, we've also provided a comprehensive reference guide for all the writers and directors of Stargate SG-1, correct to date. Season One transcripts added:The Enemy WithinSeason Two transcripts added:
With Mr. Shanks' permission, entertainment journalist and columnist Miwa Hirai shares with Solutions and Stargate fans her exclusive interview. Mr. Shanks talks in-depth about his character Daniel Jackson, past, present and future, as well as his hopes for the Jack and Daniel friendship. There's more about his recent acting roles in Sumuru and Andromeda and heintrigues with his expectations of writing an episode for Stargate. We're honoured and thrilled to be able to share this interview with you and more grateful and appreciative of the generosity of Miwa Hirai and Michael Shanks than we can adequately say.
Chapter Two: The Pitch. Joseph Mallozzi describes how the writing team pitches and refines initial story ideas, some accepted. Some Not. A spoiler-free version is available so the spoilerphobes (you guys know who you are!) can still enjoy the diary.
We're happy to be able to announce that our comprehensive Character Compendium is now complete. There are entries for all the main guest and recurring characters as well as the regulars, along with an extensive photo reference. We're confident you won't find a more comprehensive guide anywhere on the web.

Thanks go to Kera Rothery, Kelly, Marcia and Elfin :) We'll continue to build the Episode Guide over time, adding both transcripts and reviews, along with links to the Character Compendium and in-depth biographies of the regular and key recurring characters.
Solutions is thrilled to share with you the Production Diary of Stargate SG-1 writer and Co-Executive Producer Joseph Mallozzi. Over the coming weeks, he'll be taking us behind the scenes at Bridge Studios to explore how an episode of the show is made and bring us all a little closer to the production of this series we love and admire. We'd like to express our heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Joseph Mallozzi for willingly giving fans so much of his personal time over the coming weeks.

For all those who missed this gem of an interview conducted in 2001 from the set of Season Five's Red Sky, in which Michael is delightful and his esteemed colleagues wind him up - and in Amanda's case allegedly feel him up - mercilessly, we have a transcript, and our screencaps will hopefully capture the spirit of the episode clips shown during the interview.

"I wasn't surprised that Rick signed on," Judge remarks. "He's the toughest old man that I know. He has more energy than anybody I know. Actually, I was surprised that he agreed to do another year. I'm overjoyed that he said yes. No one else could play O'Neill except Rick. He just has that guy's humor down perfectly. The show wouldn't be the same without Rick. My concern was that if Rick decided not to do it, would they try to replace him with someone else? Would the network want to do the show if he didn't agree to come back? But the best-case scenario happened: he signed on for another year."
We've added images for the following episodes from Season Four of Stargate SG-1:

"I'm very aware of the strong reaction to Daniel's departure since the end of Season 5. It's been very surprising for me and, I think, for the people who run the show as well. I knew that there would some sort of reaction, but I didn't realize how passionate it would be. The character was very passionate, so maybe he would attract people who share that trait. It's just been very lovely, but at the same time it's been difficult. It was sad for me (to leave), too."
We're absolutely thrilled to be able to share with you an exclusive interview which Colin Cunningham (Maj. Davis) agreed to do for Stargate SG-1 Solutions in a moment of weakness at the BOBW Convention in Sydney, Australia! Colin shares with us his thoughts on acting and Stargate SG-1, then fills us in on who Maj. Davis is and what developments he'd like for his character. Colin also gives us the skinny on the perils of attending sci-fi conventions :)
